“A very good hotel hotel in Munich”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 21, 2013

We stayed a weekend in Munich at the end of March. The hotel is clean, the lobby area is big enough. The room did not have a basin which we would have appreciated a lot, but the bathroom itself was big and clean. The breakfast was DELICIOUS and had a large variety (a lot of healthy stuff which we prefer!). The staff was friendly.

The hotel gym was quite modest, I would say, for a hotel of 5 stars.

But the location is great, all the "best" boutiques in the same street, and everything just a few more steps (Höfbräuhaus, more boutiques and shops etc).

Munich is a nice city for a weekend stay - not too big, not too small, clean etc.

Nothing really to complain but compared to some other 5star-hotels we've been, this was a small disappointment though nothing special to complain about (except the gym).

My husband and I stayed at the Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten Kempinski Munchen during a business trip and we could not believe our luck when we meet the staff and saw what would be our home for nearly a week. The service offered at this hotel was among the best we have ever experienced. The staff is extremely friendly, cordial, and almost regal. The key to the success of this historic hotel is an exceptionally well-trained staff who have a penchant for the art of serving others and management which has an obvious, acute eye for detail, seeing all through the optics of the guest.

Some of the above-and-beyond services includes the following:

1) Rooms stocked and cleaned immaculately each day.
2) A special Lebanese and Arabic menu.
3) New slippers left on the side of each bed under a crisp, white towel....each day.
4) Dirty clothes folded and neatly stacked in the closet...each day.
5) Several daily visits to room to check on supply of refrigerated items.
6) Foyer doors opened and closed by staff and polished after being touched by the un-gloved, human hand.
7) Glorious, works of floral art displayed in the foyer and lobby.
8) Staff escorts to places in the hotel. We even had a member of the staff escort us across the street to the ATM machine.
9) Food and beverages of the finest quality including cheeses, meats, juices, exotic fruits, juices, breads, several styles of coffee and varieties of teas.
10) Nightly entertainment in the bar where guests easily meets people from all over the world wishing to converse.
11) Tourist guides, magazines, brochures and a book describing the hotel's history supplied in each room.
12) A closet stocked with shoe care supplies, an iron, umbrella, robes, needles and threads and other supplies a traveler may need to make their journey easier and less eventful.

The Kempinski could have slowly declined to just an interesting local with historic significance, but very average service offerings. Because of the staff, this hotel is a destination. The hotel is expensive, and if you cannot afford to stay overnight, at least visit for a coffee and pastry in the lobby; a drink at the bar or a meal in the restaurant, as this level of service is rare and awesome to observe. The hotel is just a block away from the winding, medieval streets of Munich where you will find markets, plazas, shops, museums and ancient churches . It took me about 15 minutes to walk from St Michael s Church to the hotel and maybe 25 minutes to the Karstadt Department Store where I caught a tour bus to the Bavarian castles.

Room Tip: i would have chosen a room on Maximillian Street just because I would have found it fun to watch the...

The hotel has a perfect location, the stuff is very nice and friendly. I've stayed here 5 times in the last 2 years and I'll go again. Some of the rooms are old but they are renovating them. The newly renovated rooms are very nice.

Stayed here for just one night and upon check in were upgraded to a suite which we were obviously very pleased about....until we got to the room.Room itself was lovely...tastefully decorated, beautiful bathroom with all mod cons but the noise....The view was overlooking a courtyard which resembled a building site with deafening noise both from the heavy duty machinery and the builders shouting across to one another.Having set off from the UK at 3am we were hoping for a few hours rest before setting out to explore the town but no chance in this room.We 'phoned down to reception explaining the problem and requesting a room change which almost two hours later we received. The new room was even better that the one we had left...a very spacious suite overlooking the Maximillianstrasse with no noise at all.Absolutely perfect.Do beware...do not take a room overlooking the courtyard whilst this building work is taking place.I strongly believe these rooms should not be sold during this period.
The hotel reception and communal areas are beautiful, the staff are fantastic and the breakfast & the sheer choice available second to none.

Room Tip: Do try to get a room overlooking the front (Maximillianstrasse) whilst the building work is taking p...

Stayed here for 2 nights and had a wonderful experience. The location was perfect for the Opera House (the reason for my trip) but also for it's central location in the city. The staff couldn't have been more helpful. Not the cheapest hotel to dine in (38 euros for breakfast) but lots of alternatives close by. The swimming pool and small gym were virtually empty during my stay so no overcrowding. It's not a modern hotel but has all the amenities I needed - free IPad for use in the room; free wi-fi; 42 inch HD tv. I would recommend this hotel and would definitely stay there again.

Stayed twice here in the last two months. Super location in the high end shopping quarter of Munich.

Both times somewhat disappointed with so called refurbished rooms. Second stay room was next to one being renovated so extremely noisy. When I complained, I was told that they would be stopping work by the end of the afternoon and nothing could be done til then.

Ate in restaurant for dinner. Seated in side room with no ambience. Food was mediocre.

Will not stay there again!
