“Convenient and comfortable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 11, 2013

Ideally located for exploring Munich. Centrally situated close to main station, underground and city centre attractions, including the fabulous Christmas markets.
Our first floor twin room was clean, modern and comfortable, but VERY small - twin beds were pushed together, with very little additional space. Not a problem for us as we were out all day, but worth keeping in mind if looking for a hotel where you would want to enjoy the comforts of your hotel room.
Beds were really comfortable, breakfast was first class and hotel staff friendly.
Would stay again and would recommend to anyone looking for a city centre bed.

Me and my partner stayed with this ibis in November 2013 and it was really good decision to book this hotel. Location, staff, room and breakfast was simply perfect. What else would you expect from 3 star city hotel. I can recommend this place to everyone who would like to travel to Munich. We will be back!

I stayed with ibis Muenchen City from 21.-23.11.2013. The location is perfect. Just couple hundred meters from Muenchen HPT Banhof and city center. Staff at the reception and was excellent, always willing to help. Nice, clean room with superb bedding. Breakfast was delicious and rich. I will definitely come back to this place.

We stayed here 2 nights during the last leg of our Europe tour.

The hotel is rather compact but suit our purpose as we did not have a lot of luggage with us.

Check in was efficient, and we experienced excellent customer service from hotel staff. Welcome drinks vouchers were given as we are Accor members.

Rooms are very compact, neat and clean. Beds are comfortable and in fact one of the best beds we slept on during our stay in Europe because they come with a firm topper on top of the mattress. We were given rooms not facing the street so no noise from the outside.

Wifi is free and signal strong and accessible from rooms as well. Plenty of international channels on TV but few in English. There are also a Chinese channel, a Japanese channel as well as a Korean channel.

Bathroom room is really small with a shower cubicle probably not very much space for some bigger built people. Water pressure is good with hot and cold water easily regulated. There is also a glass window in the bathroom which might be a concern for some regarding privacy. We simply covered it with a plastic bag during our stay.

If you are coming from the main train station, this hotel is not difficult to find. Before entering the main hall of the station where all the cafes are, turn left and take the escalator down to the under pass on the left and walk straight ahead and then come up to Arnulf street. Walk a very short distance towards the traffic junction with the train station on your right and then turn left. Walk ahead and cross one road at the traffic junction and walk ahead again. You will pass a convenience store and then Kings hotel and a few units after will be Ibis with the unmistakeable red sign on the wall. Less than 5 minutes walk all in before the main hall of the train station.

Across the road from Ibis is a western restaurant offering chickens menu and next to it is a small Vietnamese restaurant. Walking to Karlsplatz and then further to Marienplatz is a breeze with plenty to shop and see. All the H&M, C&A and other main retailers are there. If you don't feel like walking much, a tram station is just in front of the hotel on the left to bring you to main train station to change to their subway system to take you to places.

For an average rate of 60 euro per room per night when we booked early, we consider this hotel really value for money. Don't expect this rate during special events though. Overall, we did enjoy our stay which was very convenient for us travelling by train.

Room Tip: If you are worried about street noise, request rooms facing the inside of the hotel.

Travelled with a US student tour group for spring break and this was our last stop after 7 days and 4 countries. The Pros: It is clean, contemporary, and excellent wifi in the lobby. The Cons: The rooms are very compact. I was rooming with another parent and though we were travelling light, there was barely room for our luggage in the room. The bathrooms were even smaller and the mattresses were thin. It would have been nice to have been able to stretch just a bit before the long flight home. Our inner-city travel was supplemented via bus so proximity wasn't an issue. This would be ideal for a single person traveling on a budget and got the job done for our group, once we squeezed in.

Room Tip: Rooms are small, don't double up if you can avoid it.

Dear Ibis Guest Ibbc,

I wish to thank you for your detailed information about what you experienced, thus giving us the opportunity to come back to you in writing. Your comments are very important for us in order to check on our quality and to improve accordingly,

I am terrible sorry that you did not feel very comfortable with our roomsize.
In our Ibis Hotel Munich City the rooms have a size of 14.50sqm up to16.00 sqm, the corresponding bathrooms have 3.00 up to 3.50 sqm. If you have expected larger rooms, of course you are disappointed. We have the aim to offer adequate good quality at affordable prices at downtown Munich. Among other things, the room size allows us to do this.
We appreciate your sharing your concerns!.

Sincerely,
Christian Koentopp
Manager

A short walk from the Hauptbahnhof. Generic Ibis room - clean, large enough for one or a couple at a pinch (all their city hotels are similar in size) and staff helpful.
Immediate surroundings a little bit low rent but felt safe enough.
Lowenbrau beer keller 5 minutes walk away for traditional Bavarian fare.
Handy for rail/Ubahn/tram connections to get round the city.
Happily stay there again.

The hotel is ideal to be used for a stopover or a short visit in Munich. It is within walking distance to the train station and to Marienplatz. The rooms have the Ibis standart: small but clean. The reception staff were kind and helpful to us.
