“First Time Great, Second Time Even Better”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 27, 2009

Comfortable, Very Clean, and location, location, location! Love my stay here. The first time with my husband; the second time had my daughter with us. Got a loft-type room and it was summer! Germany doesn't believe in A/C! It was hot; but comfortable enough to come back for the third time. Lots of good walk for food, entertainment, and shopping!! What else to you need?

Room was clean and bigger than "average" but it was very warm with no AC. I hate to think what it would be like in summer. The (free) wireless internet access is slow. So slow that web pages gave up loading in the end and the browser reported an error. It worked in the end, though. Slowly.
Two single beds pushed together (with separate sheets and duvets) wasn't ideal for me, being on my own. Also no master switch for the lights - you have to turn them all on and off individually.
The best thing about this hotel (if you're on business, at least) is the location. It's a 2 minute walk to at least ten decent-ish restaurants and a couple of popular bars.

Stayed here together with a group attending a seminar at a nearby major reinsurer (five minutes walking distance). My single room was reasonably big with a comfortable bed, seating arrangements as well as a desk. Internet connection is free via Wi-Fi but speed is quite pathetic. The bathroom had a shower and soap/shower gel in dispenser bottles (great for those of us environmentally minded) with towels in reasonable supply.

Breakfast buffet (incl.) was good with cold and hot selection. Wonderful bread basket!

There is no restaurant but here's a great recommendation for those who like nice Italian food. Check out La Tazza d'Oro which is just up the road from the hotel; great food and friendly atmosphere.

Stayed here during a trade fair, and paid the typical ripoff prices (ca. 300 Euro a night)
Internet connection is very good, and staff is very helpful (with one lethargic exception), speaking also English.
A parking garage is directly below, but requires a good driver to get in, as it is very small.

Restaurants and bars are close, and a longer walk or the nearby subway station brings to the city centre. The trade fair is ca 30 mins away, depending on traffic.

Bad thing was that I explicitly ordered a nonsmokers room, and got a room which smelled like at least ten smokers recently died in it. Of course, no other room was free to change to. The shower took 10 minutes to produce something that could pass as warm water. This in regard of the prices is rather inacceptable, trade fair or not.

I have been to this hotel 3 times over several years period, last time in the end of July 2008. Rooms are okay, with the necessary amenities, although they could offer better compared to similar class of hotels. Some of the guest rooms are extremely small. One big minus, if you stay in summer, is the lack of air condiition. The variety of food offered for breakfast also deteriorated during the years, as well as customer service. All in all this hotel is fine for a short stay - maximum 2-3 nights, having in mind the convenient location.

Chose this principally because I could park ... which was useful, but the slope into the underground car park was so steep as to be very hazardous, and the entrance is not easy to spot.

Room ... comfortable, please with bathroom. Double bed seemed very narrow. Main problem was that no air conditioning and very hard to keep room at all cool - surrounding streets too noisy to leave windows open.

Very impressed with breakfasts, which were wide ranging and excellent, and impeccable English spoken by staff.

BUT arrived home to find unauthorised charge taken from credit card, which took days of emails to sort out and was only refunded after threatening to report the hotel to the tourist authorities. This alone means I won't be going back, and find it hard to recommend to others.

I was only in Munich for 1 night at the end of my Romantic Road tour. I wish I had spent at least 2 more nights here. The location of the hotel is excellent. It is close to many cafes, shops and the Englischer Gardens. U-bahn is conveniently located just a couple blocks away.

The rooms are quite spacious. Although there was no bath tub, the character of my room made up for that. My room had french doors that opened to the outside. This was great to get fresh air, however there was no balcony so there was a steel barrier in place to prevent someone from stepping over the edge.

The front desk staff was very helpful and curteous. The breakfast quality was great, and there was quite a selection. The breakfast consisted of meats, cheeses, assorted juices, eggs, bacon and breads and cold cereals.

  • Liked — Front desk staff, room size, location.
  • Disliked — No bath tub.
