Okay hotel, but we were gouged on the price (albeit we were there for World Cup). We payed over $200 for an outdated (really, these this hotel seems to have been decorated in the late 80s) and very remote hotel. At a more budget price the hotel would be acceptable. It is by a metro staion and had respectably comfortable bed and was decently clean.

Comfortable room with few ameneties. Nearby S-5 tram is a few minutes to Marienplatz. Ten minutes of free Internet access to check email. Very simple breakfast of meats, cheeses, breads, jams, etc.

The Econtel is a little far from downtown Munich, but it is a great hotel with great rooms. If you are traveling with family, they have rooms for families, business & regular folks. The staff speaks great english and they are friendly & helpful. The spacious rooms allow for spreading out, a rarity in some european hotels, and in the lobby they offer hotel & tea throughout the day. It is about a block from the train station, and a 20 min. ride to Marienplatz. In the other direction, its about 20 minutes to Kloster Andechs, a beer brewing monastery- that is worth the trip.If you plan on drinking yourself to oblivion on a regular basis while in Munich, this hotel probably wouldn't suit you, but if you are with a group- it's perfect. A cab ride to Marienplatz is about $20.Definitely a good value.
