“Great Food, Great Atmosphere”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

The food was excellent and the staff and owners were very friendly and welcoming with good English. I would recomend booking a table as the restaurant is very busy and we couldnt get a table the first night that we tried to get in and ended up booking for the next night.

“Good food bad service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 1, 2012 via mobile

The food was ok. The two vietnamese waitresses was not as welcoming towards asians. Dampened the whole dining experience eventhough the tom yam soup was good. The fried pak choi with tofu was but salty though

“Excellent Thai Food in Munich!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 3, 2011

We ventured to the restaurant based on some trip advisor reviews and other reviews on the internet. We were in the mood for something a bit different than traditional German food (though I love that too!) and Thai was what we craved. It is located in a quiet street, but as we entered the restaurant it was very crowded. We were greeted warmly, but we were afraid that we may not get in as the few empty tables seemed destined for reservation holders. The host recommend we wait a few minutes and we were fortunate to get a table. We enjoyed a beer at the bar and were shown to our table. For others, I would recommend making a reservation as it seems to be a popular place; and I would hate for you to be unlucky where we were lucky to get in.

Having eaten Thai quite frequently, we knew the type of dish that we were looking for and the menu did not disappoint. There was a nice selection of the soups, appetizers, and entrees without offering too many choices. The menu also featured traditional dishes as well as other dishes that were more European/German with a Thai twist. Having a manageable selection of choices is likely one reason why all of the food that we ate and all of the food that we saw come out to other diners was so fresh, well cooked, and well presented. We had the Tom Yum Goong soup which offered a nice lemon/lime/coriander broth with fresh tasting shrimp. Though the mushrooms were button and not the traditional straw mushrooms, the soup was very good! We then shared the green curry chicken and a WONDERFUL beef in redwine and garlic sauce. The beef was perfectly cooked to medium and melted in the mouth!

I would also consider the food a good value at a price of 55 Euros for water, 2 beers, appetiser, two entrees, and a big bowl of jasmine rice. Would definitely go to Kao Kao again for the food and the service!
