“Clean and comfortable - not very central though”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 21, 2012

Just as the reviews on booking.com indicated, the Motel One is clean, modern and decent value for the money. It is located fairly close to the Metro and other conveniences but it is by no means central. The staff were friendly and the room was clean and comfortable with all the amenities that one would want or expect. Paying for the wifi is a bit distasteful - €5 per night isn't the end of the world but it is annoying nonetheless. I think they should build it into the price of the room. I didn't eat the breakfast - the additional €7.50 was better spent at the local bakery that had fresh-squeezed OJ and fresh baking. I would stay here again.

Don't expect anything too fancy, but this hotel looks sleek (I think they even lend iPads to guests), has a good service and is in a great location. Great breakfast too. Rooms v small but you wouldn't expect any different.

A short autumn break in Munich. Recommend this hotel as it is 15 minute walk from city centre, close to restaurants, beer halls, museums and other points of interest. Rooms are small, but comfortable. Wifi and breakfast fee good value. Would go again.

I stayed at this hotel for one night during Oktoberfest. The hotel is quite new, and the rooms are pleasant and quite small, common for European hotels. It is only about a 5 minute from an S-bahn station and very close to the Deutsches Museum, as the name implies.

They have a large bar off the lobby that is very nice and a restaurant on-site that I did not use.

I would definitely stay there again.

A word of caution though. When I checked in they had no record of my reservation which had been made on line through Venere.com. After showing them a printout of my reservation and checking with the manager, they were able to accommodate me with a room on the 10 floor. If making a reservation on-line, check with the hotel to make sure beforehand that they have your reservation in their computer.

I'm often travelling to Munich and I always choose Motel One accomodations, according to availability (they're often full), I've tried already some...
The rooms are the same for all Motel One I tried, that means, they're quite small, but well designed and very well furnished and perfectly clean, for single traveller up to 3-4 nights the dimension is absolutely fine, you can hang some clothes and find space for others.
The bathroom is equipped with good quality tools (rain shower and nice design washbowls).
I advice to take the WelcomeOne package that includes breakfast and wifi for 7,50€, that I find not overpriced and the breakfast is not bad, although it does not iclude any warm dishes, but the quality is very good.

Given its name, Motel One is not exactly close to the Deutsches Museum, which is separated by a residential estate and a small river, and for a motel, the cost for parking is expensive.

Check-in was mechanical though efficient. The receptionist, Daniel, wasn't at all helpful especially when asked if there is a laundromat/Waschsalon nearby, perhaps it was out of the usual receptionist tasks, Daniel seem reluctant and did not try to help search for the answer.

The room is bright, basic with modern and tasteful decor, bed with bedside storage, adequate power outlets, good reading lamps, 6 coat hangers with railings, a single seater settee which doubles as a fold up bed, a small table, a stool and TV. The bedding was of quality linen and the bed firm, the local was quiet and the room airy, making it quite comfortable for sleeping.

It was a pleasant surprise to find my 2nd floor room within the free WiFi range from the lounge downstair.

The rain shower did not provide consistent hot water but has good water pressure, toilet was small but clean. The exhaust fan doesn't seem to be working which left the windowless toilet damp and stuffy after showering, I had to prop the door open using towels to air it. With just 2 hooks behind the door, extra hooks in the toilet would be handy.

The neighbourhood in which the motel is in is nice and the streets were well lit at night, the S Bahn is about 10 minutes walk away or a pleasant 30 minutes to walk to the Altstadt, there are also many restaurants near the S Bahn station - Teatro Tapas on Balanstrasse 23, corner of Pariserstrasse and Balanstrasse, earned a special mention, the tapas was top notch as with the service and the price.

Also, thanks to the friendly and helpful receptionist at the Derag Livinghotel next door, which I didn't even stay at, I was given a map and direction to the nearest laundromat, about 20 minutes walk away on Pariserstrasse 24.

Given Motel One 4-star because of the price I paid vs. comfort of the room. No star for the service!

Budget Hotel with a 69 euro rate, what can you expect. Well this Hotel is great great value for money. Cool lobby and Lounge In designer wanna be style, rooms with what you need nothing more or less. Free wifi and a excellent breakfast buffet for only 7,50 euro . I will return to any Motel One if this is standard/rate
