“Great Value - Central Location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 16, 2013 via mobile

The 2 person apartment was clean, well equipped and the price was fantastic value. The hotel is an easy walk away from Hbf and Karlstor, and not too far from central area at all. We went for a ground floor room at the back to avoid traffic noise and it was just fine.

This was a great stay in Munich. The hotel is only a few blocks from the main train station (Hbf) and we had no problems even though we were rolling suitcases. It is true that you pass by some sports betting and adult entertainment, but it was not seedy and we had no issues. I was surprised how large the rooms were and it was nice to have the small kitchen (which even had a dishwasher). There are 2 grocery stores within a few blocks so it was easy to get food. We stayed 4 nights and therefore did not have daily maid service (only get that for 3 nights and below) so we just left the Murphy bed down the entire time. The bed was comfortable which surprised me. There was a closet and plenty of space to store things and it seems like we even had extra room available. Our room was right outside the elevator but we never heard anyone the entire time we were there so don't worry if you get that room.

The room does not have wifi but does have an ethernet jack and the front desk offered us a cable but I brought my own. The lobby does have free wifi so we were able to connect our phones in the lobby and the laptop in the room. We skipped the expensive breakfast in the lobby and just bought food from the grocery store and had it in the room for breakfast. Unlike the US, stores are actually closed on Sunday so we couldn't get groceries until Monday. The Hbf is only blocks away with many food choices so that's also an option for any meal of the day.

The only weird thing I noticed was that the thermostat would go down to 18C at night even though it was set for 22 when we went to bed. I like it cold when I sleep so it was not a problem but if you don't you may want to ask the front desk how to get it to stay at 22 or whatever you prefer. Also, I was told the self service laundry was €6 for washer and €3 for dryer which seemed very high to me. Luckily we did not need to do laundry.

The front desk was helpful and helped us get to the various Christmas Markets. There were some employees that were definitely more helpful than others but nobody was bad. If I were to come back to Munich again the Adagio would be at the top of my list!!

The location of these apartments is brilliant as they are walking distance from the main train station, restaurants, grocery shops and Marien Platz. The reception staff is very polite, pleasant and helpful in answering all our questions. Customer service is what a lot of hotels lack so I was very impressed! They gave us a detailed city map as soon as we got to the hotel so don’t bother queuing up for one at the tourist centre and paying for it. There were lots of sightseeing leaflets opposite reception. The apartment was very modern and clean. Kitchen was very clean and equipped with fridge, microwave, cooker and dishwasher. The kitchenette was also very well equipped with utensils which came in handy as we were in Munich for New Years Eve and New year’s day and most food venues were closed. The bedroom also had an ipod dock which was fantastic!

Least busy route to get to the apartment by foot from the Main train station:

As soon as you come out of the train station, turn right onto the main road and go past the taxi rank. Keep going straight until you get to the junction of Pension Hotel. At this junction, turn left at the traffic lights and walk straight ahead to the next set of traffic lights. From here you will see the apartments across the road on the left hand side.

Room Tip: Request a room away from the main road

We stayed with the establishment twice over December 2012. Our first stay was on the second floor, our apartment had a fold down bed. This apartment was clean, neat, the amenities in the apartment were fabulous. The room was warm and not too hot. On our second stay we stayed on the top floor. We really could not fault this hotel. It was great and we would recommend this over and over again if you prefer a self catering option. The hotel is within walking distance of the main Munchen Hbf, Marienplatz, Residenz, the Isar River etc. There is a Lidl store within a block and and half on SchwanthalerstaBe. As you exit the hotel turn right. This store is great for supplies. We would stay again with Adagio and will look up their other hotels within Europe. 10/10.

Room Tip: Every room is a good room. Top floor had a sloped ceiling so just be careful as both my husband and...

The location is very good, next to the train station, walking distance from the city centre and the most important attractions, easily reachable by car (there is also a private garage) and by public transport; only one problem, if you care: the large number of adult oriented clubs (table dance, betting, videolotteries...), but you can see nothing nasty, because all windows are covered.
Clean and completely furnished kitchen (with dishwasher and microwave oven). Clean studio, with pull-down double bed (a little hard mattress). Clean and pretty structure. Free wifi available only in the lobby, free but wired internet in the apartments.
It's possible to get breakfast, but it's a lot poorer for same cost (12 € for person a day) we experienced in other Adagio City aparthotels (Paris and Strasbourg): no hot dish available (i.e. bacon, scrambled eggs, toasts) excepting hard-boiled eggs. For sweet food lovers, notice there is no cake available, only little croissants. In our opinion, this was the worst feature.

Sehr geehrter Gast,

From our greeting to check-out, the front desk staff was wonderful. Traveling with a 1 and 4 year old is made much easier with the apartment lay out and enjoyed having a nicely stocked kitchen. The location was wonderful for us with close restaurants, grocery, train station and an easy walk to the Marienplatz.

Adagio aparthotel in Munich was located within easy walking distance of the town center and train station. The kitchen was a great asset to the room and was well stocked with utinsels. Breakfast is overpriced and cheaper to eat elsewhere. Room was a good size, clean, and comfortable. Staff was helful.
