“Good choice in Munich”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 11, 2014

We were here just to try a new and good restaurant in the city center and we really liked it. The food was good and the price not so high, although it is a little expensive compared to the prices in Munich.

The place is very cozy but really small, so we needed to make a reservation 2 weeks in advance. I would recommend the white chocolate mousse as dessert: amazing!. The service was also very good. We had also a very polite waiter who was fast and really nice with us.

If you are visiting Munich or already living here, visit this restaurant, you won't regret it!

“Wonderful meal”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 10, 2014

After walking around Munich for about half an hour looking for somewhere to eat, I had almost lost hope that we would find somewhere in the city that wasn't a pub equivalent. Finally, we found this place, and the little love-heart note on the menu-board outside saying 'we have English Menus available for you' and the fact that the tiny little place only had one table for 5 (our group size) spare was a sign. The meals were warm and the service very friendly. I particularly enjoyed the catfish. The atmosphere was excellent, it is a bit like a wooden cabin inside, which is wonderful and cosy. Meals came quickly and waitresses were friendly and happy to talk to us, they also coped with our English speaking spotted by the odd german word where we knew it. Food was brilliant as well, glad to have sampled some fine German food while in the country. Prices were pretty reasonable as well. Would return next time we are in Munich.

“Prefect salmon trout”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 27, 2013

This hidden little gem located on Dreifaltigkeitsplatz is quite near to the famous Viktualienmarkt. This 400 years old restaurant is known to serve good fish dishes. Eating in summer terrace outside the restaurant is lovely. The meal is delicious. The filet of salmon trout is great. Perfect combination with rosemary tomato butter, spinach and potatoes. Enough butter is used on the serving which makes the combination of spinach and tomatoes great. The potatoes and leek soup is just normal. The wine recommended is just so-so and not to my liking as I prefer something sweet).

“Worth the hype”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 19, 2013

My husband and I chose this restaurant based on tripadvisor reviews and we were not disappointed. We are in Munich for the Christmas markets and as most people have said, make a reservation. We called Tuesday and they only had an opening that night for the whole week.

Service was excellent, ambience was wonderful and the food was excellent.

The fish soup is a must-try and definitely order the deer main course, it was incredible.

“Very special”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 8, 2013

I booked this restaurant in advance for dinner. Do book in advance because the restaurant is fairly small and extremely popular. The interior is like a little tavern where looking at all the different things hanging on the walls can keep you entertained between the courses. The food was German but not like the standard dishes you get in the pubs and restaurants in Munich. It was more refined and cooked exceptionally well. We had for starters the Bavarian crayfish stew, grilled goat cheese with walnuts and grapes; and for main the farmers duck with red cabbage and pikeperch with vegetables. The quality and ingenuity of the food was outstanding. Great balance between - traditional rustic style and fine cuisine. Service was very friendly although a bit on the slow side because the restaurant was full but I didn't mind waiting because it was a pleasure to be there.
