I have stayed 3 nights in the hotel and it was great! The hotel is fine with fantastic location and good breakfast. Hotel personnel was very polite. I would stayed again in the hotel without any doubts!

We met our son in Munich last week and he chose the Louis for us. What a great choice it was too! The Louis is in the perfect location, exiting on one side to the Marienplatz and the other to the wonderful Viktualienmarkt (an amazing food and more market). Each morning we left the hotel, crossed to the Viktualienmarkt (about 30 seconds of our time) and made a breakfast of wonderful coffee, pastries, fruits and fresh juices, though if your taste runs to something heavier and more...German...there was beer and wursts as well! The hotel does have a breakfast buffet but it's fairly expensive, as is to be expected since the Louis is an expense hotel. In the afternoon the Viktualienmarkt has a small beer garden which we made use of on several occasions!

The Louis is within walking distance of everything since Munich is a small and walkable city. We rented a car one day to leave the city, took the commuter SBahn train to Dachau another, but other than those two days we really only needed a taxi one other time. That said, we do travel a lot and are all excellent walkers so our experience might not be the same for those who are less mobile .

As for the hotel itself, it's only 72 rooms and it's lovely. The restaurant, which aside from breakfast has excellent Japanese cuisine, is light-filled and lovely. The bar is attractive and the bartender is excellent. The staff is young, friendly and beyond accomodating. One evening when my husband and I were a bit confused with walking directions to a local restaurant, the shift manager left the hotel and accompanied us halfway there; he didn't head back until he was sure we knew where we were going! Who does that?

There are three categories of rooms at the Louis: the Courtyard Superior, Courtyard Deluxe and Market Deluxe. Our son stayed 5 nights in the Courtyard Superior and found it to be more than adequate with its clean design, clever use of space, immaculate & attractive bath, and comfortable bed. We spent 7 nights in the Market Deluxe and it was quite a bit larger, with a walk-in closet complete with shelving and space for suitcases, a foyer area with coat hooks, and a long hall back to the bedroom area off of which was a small room for the toilet and a nicely sized bathroom with single sink and tub/shower. The bedroom itself has a king-sized bed and a divan, small fridge, desk & chair and--best of all--two floor to ceiling sets of french doors opening onto small step-out balconies overlooking the Viktualienmarkt. The rooms also had the usual amenities you'd expect of a high end boutique hotel: robes, room safe, hairdryer. The rooms at the Louis have wood floors throughout (except for the stone floor in the 'toilet room'), stark white walls, an immaculate white bath, and a clean, simple design aesthetic. It is luxury at its simplest but if you prefer something plush may be disappointed.

When we return to Munich, and we will, it's the Louis we'll return to. No doubt about it.

Room Tip: The Market Deluxe rooms are worth the extra cost--they're larger and they look out over the Vikt...

The Louis Hotel has a magnificant location. I have had the privilege of visiting Munich from Melbourne, Australia on multiple occassions and beleive this to be the best location in the city. The market is across the street. Dont think QVM, this market is all class with an excellent beer garden in its centre. Before you ask, the hotel windows are sound proofed so if your concerned about getting to sleep early, you will not hear a peep. The best resuarants are (l think) in the vicinity of the hotel. Is there anything not prefect about this hotel? Probably the price of breakfast is too high and the room tv is from 2001. We were in room 306. It has a seperate bathroom and toilet, a spaciuos seating for 2 that overlooks the market. Book it, you wont be dissapointed.

Room Tip: Market view! They are quiet and have a great view.

i spent a weekend with my sister, who had a problem with one leg and decided to stay in this expensive but very centrally located so that we wouldn't have to walk too much.
the reception area does not do justice to the beauty of the rooms. Rooms are basically suites with a bed and a sitting area. the style combines some traditional and modern/minimal features and that works really well. i stayed in one of those rooms that have no view to the viktualien markt and yet it was bright. the weather was good and we could go to the roof terrace bar, which seems to sit between the clock towers of the old city hall. the scene is a bit bourgeois, but nobody would go to Munich for the alternative scene...which is non existing anyway.
Viktualien marked was bursting with fabulous produce and it's worth a walk, at least to take a freshly squeezed juice and a shot of wheatgrass to balance out all the beer you are going to drink.
Going back to the room, being Germay, the loo is separated from the bathroom, which i find quite inconvenient...but when in Rome...the bath tub was really tall and very difficult to access to shower. it is particularly difficult to get out of it unless you are a gymnast or a yoga teacher. considering the size of the rooms, they could have created a separate shower. also the bed could have been bigger, given all that space. it was worth the price, Munich is an expensive city anyhow.

Room Tip: rooms that face the market have a better view, but i dont think they are worth the extra price. you...

Loved the design of this hotel. Oddly shaped room with really neat furniture, comfortable bed and a really nice bathroom and a separate toilet. Located spot on in centre but still very quiet and cosy. Friendly service, excellent breakfast, but overpriced Japanese restaurant, advertising 2013 menu in elevators. A quirky little chocolate shop next door was a nice hang out on a Sunday afternoon while rest of Munich shops were all closed, in spite of loads of tourists being out and about. Will book this hotel again, as super clean, smart, comfy, friendly and well located. Only backdraw: shampoo and conditioner in one-who ever came up with that idea must be bold!

My friends and I loved this hotel the first time we stayed here - so much so that when my husband and I returned to Munich in May 2014, we didn't hesitate to book at the Louis again.

The hotel has, without a doubt, the best location in Munich. Being opposite the Viktualienmarkt, the area is vibey but safe and just around the corner from the Marienplatz. Almost everywhere is within easy walking distance - ideal for tourists.

Breakfast in the hotel looks wonderful but is pricey (€20) so we wandered down to the market every morning to get fresh coffee, rolls, cheese, fruit, etc. Lunch in the market is even better, but the market tends to close fairly early in the evenings.

The day I had to spend in the hotel working was made bearable by our lovely room. We booked a Courtyard Deluxe room, and it was quite a lot bigger than our folk's Courtyard Superior room. Both rooms have a separate loo, but the Deluxe room also has a bath tub, which I want (need?) when travelling. And whatever they pump through the passages perfumes the hotel exquisitely.

We found the hotel staff efficient and willing to help. So my only compaint, and it's a small one, is the lumpy pillows. I did ask that they be changed, but the replacement pillows were the same. It's time for the hotel to review their linen.

If you book at the Louis, you are highly unlikely to regret it!

Room Tip: Stretch the budget to a Courtyard Deluxe room if you can. They are bigger than the Superior rooms an...

Been there one night with my wife and 3 little girls before our flight back home.
Located at the center, two minutes from Viktualmarket and Marienplarz. Beautiful rooms, excellent service and great breakfast.
Only minus is the price but worth it if you want to spoil yourself.
