My colleagues and I have been staying here for over 5 years and given how much we travel and experience hotels - to find one that you actually enjoy coming back to is rare. The Louis is a beautifully designed hotel of you get one of the larger rooms and not so beautifully designed if you get one of the small ones. (The smaller ones are just OK for one night.) The location is superb - just on the city centres food market and just a stroll around there will make you long for a bratwurst and beer, or two, or three. It's a handy walk to the opera and the mainly pedestrian centre and a large number of great bars and restaurants. The Jaopanese restaurant in the hotel is superb and the bar team do a great vodka martini. (Stirred, not shaken - as it should be.) The staff are friendly most of the time, but can be a bit officious. The staff at breakfast are specially chosen for their ability to forget. (They can sometimes forget almost every order - but they're very nice about it.)
But don't let that put you off - in a town full of tradition and straight-laced establishments - this one has sex appeal.
