“Very good hotel for business stop over”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 15, 2013

I came here on an overnight stopover on train journey to Ljubiana and found it to be ideal. Its about 10 minutes by taxi from Munich Hbf.

the hotel is quiet - i dont think I heard a noise until 7:30AM.

Breakfast is very reasonable.

the staff are all polite helpful and speak good English.

Not cheap but good value for what is deleivered.

Mark

Room Tip: I had 455 and had a very good nights sleep.

After just returning from a short stay in Munich, I can honestly say this hotel is great value for money. We were just looking for something comfortable, and not too expensive where we could stay during our summer break. The room was a good size, with comfortable beds, a TV, and tea/coffee/snacks available. The bathroom was modern, and a good size, but the tiling was a bit dark - can't really complain though. The only other thing which was slightly annoying was the lack of coffee and milk in the room, but all the staff were very pleasant and you only had to ask and they equipped you with whatever you needed. We didn't take breakfast during our stay, so I can't comment on the quality of the food, but there was a Lidl approx 2 minutes walk away, so you could buy a selection of croissants and juice for a fraction of the cost. The hotel also appeared to be incredibly suitable for people working/business trips, with many conference rooms and free wifi - which I think was great, as many hotels charge a lot extra for this service. As for the location - it was ideal really... with Munich's superb transport network, you are never more than 5 minutes away from a s-bahn/u-bahn so getting around is no problem at all, but if you did choose to walk into the centre - Marienplatz it is only approx 20 mins by foot. I would definitely recommend going to the English Gardens and the Olympic Gardens, and if you wanted to hire bikes, they are only approx 15 euros per person from the main station. Finally, I would also recommend the Augustine beer garden, about a five minute walk from the hotel, where you can eat in the evenings, food is basic, but delicious and there is lots of beer, and a really great atmosphere.

Stayed for three nights. Hotel is modern with clean lines, functional. Room was very good, although wasn't happy with having requested a double, king or queen were given two single beds pushed together with two single duvets on top.

Somewhat mean with the little things, such as soap (one very small bar) and body wash (again in very small size), but the breakfast made up for it. Price of breakfast was 14 Euro and worth it as there doesn't seem to be any other cafes in the vicinity that didn't need a lot of walking to. Breakfast spread was excellent and they very happily obliged if we asked for porridge and eggs other than what was on offer.

Location - very handy to the main station (15 mins walk) and to Marienplatz (centre of town) which was 20-25 mins walk.

Staff on front desk were very helpful.

Truth be told, we booked on Splendia, on short notice and got carried away by what seemed to be an excellent price for a well rated four stars hotel in Munich. Well, there is no free lunch as we found out, again.

The hotel is not horrible. It is fairly clean, though it has room for improvement on that front. It is also, cheap, for Munich. It seems relatively new, one of two reception staff was competent and polite and.... we ran out of positives.

HOWEVER:

- the location is not great; the hotel is a brisk 20 ish minute walk from the old town and the main atttraction on the route is the railway station and associated environment;
- it is located on a busy street and my wife was woken up by the tram noise in the morning; ask for a room not facing the road;
- reception staff - pretty hit and miss - one unpleasant (on arrival) and one decent(on departure);
- they have managed the performance of not refreshing our toiletries at all in our four nights there; beyond our jokes, this is unpleasant, I don't want to worry about buying shampoo when I stay in a four stars;
- the hotel is a box and nothing more; no character, no interesting design, nothing worth remembering;
- beds and pillows are not very comfortable.

All in all, it really felt like people were sacrificing comfort and client experience to be able to offer a cheap price. Fair enough, but that is not worth more than three stars and we will not be back, nor will we recommend this hotel to others.

Room Tip: rooms facing the road are noisy, choose a different option.

We have just stayed here for 2 nights and found the hotel to have a perfect location and all the amenities one would expect from a city hotel. Bed was very comfortable and breakfast wes excellent. S Bah just around the corner, tram stop just outside the door and a beer garden 5 minutes walk away. We would definitely stay here next time we are in Munich.

We stayed for three nights, Hotel is modern & Clean-cut, Nice and convenient location. Rooms are quite, spacious, well appointed with generous Bathroom.

Nevertheless bathroom design & decor is unwarrantably dark and dim. Semi opaque colored diving glass between Room and bath is mindless and ill conceived, moreover gives it a lurid appearance. Arrangement & accessibility of bathroom light switches is also unhandy.

There is practically nothing for vegetarian in Breakfast and menu.

Hotel Staff is pleasant and helpful, despite that,atmosphere is uninvolved & business like..

I would give Overall Rating as Good ( Not Very Good)

I loved this hotel: it is stylish, brand new, bright, very clean and neat. Wi-Fi is free and breakfasts are abundant. Although trams pass by all the time, you hear absolutely nothing! If you want to use the tram, the station is like 1 minute from the hotel. The hotel has a nice indoor swimming pool - and many other amenities, I believe, but unfortunately I had very few time to find it out. It was also so sweet to find a small teapot with cups and tea in the room. The only confuse was an almost transparent wall between the bedroom and the bathroom - it is ok if you travel with your mate but I frequently travel by business and stay in twin rooms with my colleagues so... it might be slightly embarrassing :)
