“Small but perfectly formed. Ideal location.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 30, 2013

Firstly, we were very lucky to get a parking space in their car park, which was very convenient. However, we didn’t know that we couldn't enter the car park prior to checking in, and there was no space in front of the hotel to park (even temporarily) so we assumed the car park was full. We had to find a car park near Marienplatz and walk over. Then when we secured the space upon checking in, we went back to get our car. It is worth noting that the car park has in and out privileges. Check-in was quick and efficient and we were asked to pay in advance, so no check-out needed. We were offered a map of Munich which was handy. The room is small but nicely designed and there is no wardrobe or drawers (just hangers and shelves) but for 3 nights it's OK. We found clever spaces to store our suitcases and there is room on the shelf behind the toilet and in the shower for toiletries. There are no extras, such as hand soap (we used the shower gel/shampoo), shower cap, tissues, phone… but if you think about it, do we really need these things? Free wi-fi in the room as we booked breakfast. However, we kept having to re-enter our log-in details, but these are provided on our receipt, so they're easy to find. The towels are good, TV is hi-tech (Loewe with fish 'screen saver') with lots of channels, bed comfy, pillows a little too flat. Had a good view of the Frauenkirche from our room. The location is ideal…. just a short walk to Marienplatz etc. Breakfast, for an additional 7.50 euros, was really good. Breakfast is set out in the lobby where there are a lot of tables (tables outside too, for the smokers, as this is a non-smoking hotel). Really nice selection of fresh, quality foods such as buns, croissants, cold cuts, tomatoes, fruit, yogurt, cheese, jams, butter, tea, coffee. No eggs, bacon or sausages but that was fine. The rest of the time, the area is a lounge/bar. The bar is open 24 hours and you can get a reasonably priced beer, and a small selection of panini sandwiches, which were very good. Kettle crips at 2.50 euros, a little steep but OK. Items can't be charged to the room as it was paid in advance, so you have to pay there and then. Service is excellent, not only at the bar, but at reception, breakfast, etc. On our check-out day, the water didn't run hot enough and my husband said only a only a tepid shower could be taken. We enquired about this at reception and were told they were aware of the problem and it would be fixed in a half hour. I waited an hour and a half for my shower but there was only minor improvement. However, a tepid shower is better than a cold one. Good water pressure but didn't drain fast enough so it was easy for the water to overflow a bit, as there is no full shower screen. The hotel is OK for a short stay (2-3 nights) but anything longer than that, the small room size will start to grate on your nerves. We will definitely come back to this location as it's a great price for a very convenient location. We are going to Edinburgh soon and have already booked the Motel One there.

Not far from city center. Has parking places. Had a good and clean bed and the room was small.
Mordern decoration and furniture. The lobby is small and used for the breakfast. Good value for the price. Breakfast was good and enough. Will stay on my next business trip.

Room Tip: Room 211 was quite.

Well, what can you expect from a city motel - a central situation and not too much else. For this Motel One at Sendlinger Tor is alright. The rooms are clearly on the small side, but they are clean, well cared of and have all the necessary features.
The real surprise was the breakfast buffet - not the size or the variety, but the quality: freshly made fruit salad and excellent breads, buns and croissants; and all for just 7.50 Euros.

i have stayed several times at this hotel and also other M1 locations and am a big fan. It is a low cost design hotel with 5 star services, but very small - yet nice and trendy - rooms. The staff gives you great service and support. Very good breakfast for a very reasonable price.

The top hotels in Munich can be in the 300-600 Euro range per night. The M1 chain promises with a clear business model to give you high quality at XX Euro/night. Clearly, compromises need to be made - no wardrobe, no phone, wifi internet, small room, but quality bath room interior, trendy room design, good quality beds, and air condition (not common in Germany).

I know a few 5 star hotels in Germany who have large but decade old rooms - in one you could order a piece of wood to be put under your bed to give you support during sleeping hours :-)

It is important to understand the concept of the hotel chain before booking. that said I would highly recommend it.

During a recent family vacation in Europe, my family stayed for one night at the Motel One München Sendlinger Tor. We booked two double rooms - one for my wife and me and one for my two teen daughters. Goven the very reasonable price, I was shocked at how nice, modern, and clean the rooms were, the quality of the breakfast offered, and the really nice visual appeal throughout. I spend slightly more for just onw room at another München hotel when I'm there for business and, granted, that particular hotel is fantastic but this hotel offers unbelievable value.

Parking can be an issue - I ended up a few blocks away but was able to pull up out front and unload the family.

The location is good and made even better by its proximity to the U-bahn or subway station - it's only a minutes walk to the corner and in just minutes you can be at on the Marienplatz.

I highly recommend this hotel for families if you don't mind having 2 adjacent rooms and definitely recommend for value travelers who spend all but sleeping hours out and about.

The hotel location and price were the reasons for picking this hotel. As previous reviews, it does offer the very basic that you need in a hotel room. Only addition i would ask for is a safety deposit box in room. It's very clean and practically 50m away from the Sendlinger Tor underground station. It takes about a slow 20 min walk (as you tend to stop along the way) to Marienplatz. Staff were very attentive to our requests and efficient.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view, in which you will be able to see the tall landmarks of Munich city.
