“Reasonable price, terrific location, smart choice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 13, 2012

I booked a double room (with breakfast) for a week at this hotel based on the reviews of other travellers on TA and was certainly very satisfied with the stay.

The location of the hotel, being only steps away from the Sendlinger Tor U-bahn station, was one of the reasons for me staying here. However, coming off the Munich subway, I initially had difficulty finding the hotel as I had gotten myself on the wrong side of the street and my view of the hotel was blocked by a small park. Nevertheless, being one stop away from both Marienplastz and Hauptbanhof stations made connecting to all parts of the city (and beyond) extremely easy and convenient.

When I tried to check in, my room was not ready but this was unsurprising as it was only 8.00 am on a Saturday morning, the hotel was full, and departing guests had not yet checked out. Despite being very busy, the reception staff were very helpful in pre-checking me in and providing directions and ideas for a Saturday morning stroll.

I found my room was small and simple but adequate - comfortable bed, LCD television, easy chair, small table and stool, and shelves for personal belongings. There was no phone in the room but this wasn't a problem. However, the carpeting in one corner of the room had a fairly strong odour - kind of like wet, dirty socks that hadn't dried properly. The housekeeping staff had also left behind a plastic bucket with a small amount of what seemed like disinfectant fluid behind. I never found out if the fluid was there to mask the smell of the carpet but the bucket disappeared the next day after the room was cleaned. There was airconditioning but no heater in the room - in October, I found that shutting off the airconditioning and leaving the window slightly ajar made the room temperature quite comfortable...except on the Friday night when weekend revellers in the park made it rather noisy.

Breakfast was served from 7.00 am daily and was a continental buffet with juices, cereal, tasty breads, hard-boiled eggs, cold meats, coffee/tea. While seating was generally easy to find, the breakfast room did fill very quickly and could be full by 7.45-8.00 am. The hotel did not appear to mind that the easy chairs facing the reception could also be used by guests having breakfast. There were some eateries within walking distance of the hotel where lunch and dinner could be found but more options were always available a short subway ride away.

Some reviewers have noted that the wifi connection in the hotel wasn't constant. This was largely true for me as well with connection being rather unpredicatble - at times, I was able to stay on for up to 45 mins but at other times, I was disconnected after only 10-15 seconds.

Despite the shortfalls, I found this hotel to be excellent value. It's a very good 3-star hotel and tries hard to please. For the price I paid and its very conveient location, I would not hesitate to come back here on a return trip.

Room Tip: If possible, come down before 7.30 am for breakfast to avoid the crowd

We stayed here for a week during Oktoberfest and have no complaints. The hotel was a short walk to the weisn as well as to the Marienplatz in the opposite direction. Plus it was very close to a train station and tram line. I would definitely consider staying here during another trip to Munich. The room was bigger than I expected and very, very clean. The bed was firm but still comfortable. Not once did we wake up feeling sore or have trouble sleeping. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful and all spoke very good English. Because of our positive experience, we will be looking for other Motel One locations when planning future trips.

we have already stayed in this hotel 2 times and certainly will stop here in future again. the location is excellent, very central ( 5 minutes walking from Marienplatz) and plenty of restaurants and shops around. The only defect is small internal parking and not possibility to book before. But another parking is available 500 mt. far from the hotel so it's not a big problem. The room is small but well equipped and very clean, breakfast at extra charge is very good also. We recommend this hotel to everybody, especially to young couples.

We stayed here for 3 nights and were pleased, it's a great location for Munich with only a 10 minute walk from Marienplatz. The hotel is very close to the S-Bahn and it was very clean, comfortable and warm!

Good central location, right next to u-bahn and tram, one u-bahn stop away from main train station. Lovely hotel decor, room was well designed with spacious shower, personally I like the shower room a lot, the space and the way it's designed. There's free wifi however you could only log in one device at a time. I enjoyed the stay in the hotel, very comfy stay overall, good value for the price I would say, a definite return.

My friend and I landed this resort based on the reviews and of course the eye catching decor. We stayed here in September for 3 nights. Location was perfect for walking around and catching public transit. The walk to Marienplatz was less than 10 mins with lots of shops to look around at. We did a bike tour, which I have to recommend. Was fantastic! Anyhow, as per the hotel, besides the decor and of course the lovely shower, nothing special. The room was wayyyyy smaller than expected. Very tight with luggage...and no space if you want to take clothing out. The room was very clean I must admit though, same with the bathroom. Being close to the elevator, I thought it might be noisey but it wasn't at all. Breakfast was pretty good. The wifi was a bit annoying as it kicks you out after 5 mins and then you have to log-in again with a lenghtly password. Front staff was very plesant, but not very helpful. They weren't very good with restaurant suggestions nor excursions etc. I'm not putting the hotel down, just giving you the positive and negative. I would stay at this hotel again, just maybe upgrade to a bit bigger of a room. :)

Basic, clean, free wifi, friendly and in the center of Munich. This hotel or motel offers its guests all they need in a basic manner. The rooms are clean, neatly, but small. Pefect place to visit the center with all its shops and typical restaurants. The only downside is the plastic 'glass' in the bathroom. But that may be very personal for me. This place is highly recommended.
