“Why Tripadvisor is brilliant.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 30, 2013 via mobile

This place was 2nd of all the restaurants on Tripadvisor in Munich when we visited. Never in a gazillion years would we have thought about eating Greek and never in a quadrillion years would we have stopped at this very modest front on a rainy Thursday night.

But trusting to the wisdom of crowds, along we went. And sure enough - despite the unassuming front, which leads to a cosy basement - it was an excellent meal.

Zucchini with tzatziki and a pitta with fresh juicy tomatoes for starters. Both delicious and very reasonably priced.

I had skewered pork with potatoes for my main dish, my lovely girlfriend had the famous lamb chops. Both dishes were very tasty (if perhaps a tiny bit over-salted), and portions were more than generous.

A great find. A restaurant I will certainly return to in Munich. Set aside any prejudice you may have about Greek food. If you want to eat well in this part of town, this is where to go.

“Fresh grilled food, seafood, lamb chops - Party atmosphere”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 20, 2013

Restaurant Piatsa – Leopoldstrasse 33 Munich
www.restaurant-piatsa.de

The restaurant frontage is more in keeping with a small kebab shop, don’t be fooled, the restaurant is downstairs and quite large with a nice bar area.

The place has a buzz about it with live singing on some evenings. A real party atmosphere was present even during our Sunday night visit for dinner.

I visited for dinner with 3 colleagues during a Munich trade show. Food and service were excellent. Grilled fish and assorted seafood, baby squid etc, all looked very fresh. I had grilled fish which was perfectly cooked. My colleagues had the lamb chops which were recommended, they were nice and tender, very good.

I would revisit for sure, even for just a drink and snacks.

“Unusually good Greek restaurant. Big parties, but not on Sunday.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 18, 2013

Went here with colleagues on a Sunday evening on the basis of the Tripadvisor ratings. The restaurant from the outside looks nothing much and you go down some stairs below street level to the restaurant. The waiters are keen and lively and we soon had drinks and mixed cold starters to share which were all very fresh and flavoursome. The pitta breads were very fresh and moist.

All main couses were exceptional quality, though not particularly Greek. The lamb chops were 6 French cut chops cooked to perfection. The fillet of lamb was beautifully tender and tasty with four good sized pieces. One of us wanted fish and the waiter recommended a flat fish which was not on the menu. He showed it fresh at the table first and then grilled or fried it with a little flour and olive oil. He then boned it at the table. It was cooked perfectly and was very tasty with the slightly crusty outer. All mains were served with a variety of salad, fresh vegetables and some fantastic potatoes roasted in olive oil. All portions were quite large.

There was a good choice of wines, beers etc.

Our waiter was lively and brisk whilst remaining fun rather than pushy. On enquiring about the stage with the microphone I was told that on most nights other than Sunday that there is a big party after dinner until 05:00. It would have been fun to go back on a party night.

“Relaxing an delicious meal”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 4, 2013 via mobile

Stayed in Munich for the weekend and stopped in for a family dinner on Saturday night. We staryed with grilled red peppers stuffed with feta, which was amazing and also some grilled zucchini. We then split they gyro plate and the seasonal chicken breast with fresh vegetables. Everything was cooked to perfection and tasted great. Our waiter was very patient with our broken German and made some excellent recommendations. Highly recommend breaking traditional German fare for this Greek meal.
