Conveniently located in the center of everything, this place was rustic, casual and fabulous. We arrived early, tired and hungry on our last night in Munich. The restaurant was mostly empty when we arrived but was full when we left, and I understand why. Our server, Michaela, was beyond excellent. She was patient in answering our questions, efficient with bringing our beers, and was always happy to help with anything we asked all the while a genuine smile on her sweet face. We shared a cheese plate starter, and nibbled on the basket of fresh pretzels before our main meals. Of our party of five, including one vegetarian, we each cleaned our plates. The fish was fresh and perfectly seared, the duck was amazing, the pork delicious. Strangely enough, my favorite was the potato salad! I couldn't stop eating it even though I was stuffed. Being an American, this version is different than what I'm used to. We asked Michaela to tell us what all was in it, and she consulted the kitchen and came back with a simple list of ingredients. I've tried making it twice since I've been home, and while tasty, my versions haven't come close to the simple deliciousness of theirs. I think it's the horseradish mustard that's the key. Oh well. I'll just have to go back someday.
