“Excellent restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2013

Chez Philippe is a really good restaurant. You can choose between 4 menus, with astonishing tastes. You can discover some new associations of food! The wine was really good, even if my preference was on the desert !!! I would have liked to taste all of the deserts!!!
The chief and the waiter are thoughtful poeple. You can have the pleasure to speak with the chief at the end of the dinner. They are very welcoming, funny, and their french accent is, without any doubt, so charming !!
In winter you can see the snow falling, you are in a warm room with good photographies, and paintings, nice music; all for a romantic dinner!
For a beautiful day of summer, you can eat in a pretty terrace, with the same type of nice music...

Chez Philippe is definitively The place to go if you want to have a great time with your belove !!

“Romantic French Brasserie in a Surprising Location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2013

Chez Philippe is one of those fabulous places that nobody could reasonably expect to come across in Munich, of all places, and is well worth the short subway or taxi ride from the city center.

Located in an obscure part of Giesing, a non-gentriied working class district of Munich, Chez Philippe is perhaps the most romantic restaurant in town. The ancient little building is just big enough for a cozy little dining room. The walls are covered with pictures of guests and movie stars and singers of days long gone. In the summer months a covered backyard offers a relaxed atmosphere.

The place is run by Philippe, who usually is the only waiter, host and all-round charmer. Gael, the chef, focuses on classic French brasserie style cuisine from escargots to fish soup to ratatouille. The menu is rather small, focused on seasonal ingredients. The cuisine is not about reinventing anything, but is classic French cooking perfectly executed.

We have eaten at Philippe's many times and have always enjoyed the food and the attentive service. The food is above reproach and the wine list is reasonably priced and offers a good selection.
