“Make sure you get a comfort room!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 1, 2010

This was booked by my company for a conference in Munich. First, on the plus side, the hotel is well located near the central station, breakfast was basic but tasty, the staff were efficient though not particularly friendly and there was free wireless.

However, the room I was first allocated (single room) was TINY. I'm used to rooms for a single traveller usually having at least a double bed and I'm not the smallest guy, so the single bed in the room was not a welcome suprise. Reception said they could upgrade me (the next day) to a "Comfort" room which required a 15 euro surcharge per night. The new room was much bigger with two single beds pushed together. Still not a double bed but better than before. I would describe the bed itself as average. It certainly wasn't uncomfortable and I managed to sleep each night but compared to some beds in some hotels, this was nothing special. The bathroom was clean but the shower head needed replacing as it shot water out a strange angles - everywhere but down!

The decor was basic and a bit 'cold'. All the floors are tiled, as are some walls which gives it a feel somewhere between an office block and a hospital. Not exactly warm and welcoming.

So, in summary, good location and reasonable price, though I wouldn't recommend a long stay here and make sure you get a comfort room. If you are looking for anything vaguely romantic or cosy, look elsewhere.

After a very short walk from the train station we found the hotel. The room, service and location was perfect. We had a good view , shower smelt a bit, had a safe so i could lock away passports. Breakfast was good. first night we asked a red headed girl on reception for a good place to eat and she mentioned a Italian restaurant close by, well make sure you eat here. The atmosphere, food and service was sensational, we met four German men who translated the menu and helped us and then they wanted toknow about Australia. A great recommendation> also the girl mentioned the 'mini' Oktoberfest was on and we had a great night there as well. the accommodation was at a great price as well. this place is highly recommended, also my most treasured thing was that the room was very quiet. could not fault it.

The not impressive builduing of the hotel from outside, situated near the main train station (area with a lot of bars for adults ;), suppose to be not a secure zone), reveals a nice place to stay from the inside. The rooms are cosy, very clean and good equiped. The breakfast was raelly rich and various. I liked the way the colourful plates, cups were combined. A lot of style in there :). I realy liked this hotel.

I chose this hotel because of the free wireless internet in the rooms and its location. After I reserved I read a few negative reviews regarding the staff and service and was a little worried. Every member of the staff that I dealt with, from the front desk to the breakfast room staff, was competent, friendly and helpful. Once I called for an extra towel and an extra pillow and someone was up in my room within minutes. Every request was quickly handled. I requested a room on a high floor and they accomodated me on the top floor. The free wireless always worked. There is a safe inside the room. The bed was comfortable. The floors being wood might be noisy if you have someone above you. The free breakfast buffet is adequate and plentiful if not varied from day to day. The only reason I would not stay here again would be in the warmer months as there is no A/C. In April it was fine as it was cool outside and the room did have a total of 4 windows that open. Location could not have been any better only a 5 minute walk to the central train station. There isn't a restaurant on site, only the breakfast room, but there are plenty of options nearby and even inside the train station. There is no tea/coffee kettle in the room but you can get one at the front desk with a deposit of 10 euros which you get back when you return it.

Liked: Location
Free wireless in the room
4 windows in the room bringing in lots of light
Safe in the room
Location across from train station
closet space in room

Disliked: No A/C
No restaurant on site
Safe in room is not laptop size
Shower is to low

This hotel was near the central train station. The room was very large, but it was also a handicapped room which might have made a difference. It was also in the back of the building so it was very quiet. Hotel was clean and breakfast was good. I'd recommend getting to breakfast early, it seemed to be very crowded after 9:00 am. Lobby and bar area was nice after a long day to relax and have a drink. Hotel staff was friendly and fast. I recommend this hotel if you need the central station, but if I came back to Munich, I'd probably stay in Marienplatz or on the side of town near the China Tower and garden.

Each floor had a 'art' theme to it - our floor the 5th (!!) had a graffiti theme though it just made the place looked run down. For a hotel this big you would expect there to be more than one central lift - groups of people waiting in the small hallway for a lift! Breakfast was a busy time, though staff were efficient in clearing away and setting tables, there was a feeling of a Debenhams canteen at Christmas! We were near the station but wished we were closer to the old town. It was a 15 - 20 minute walk into the old part and the square and the area near the hotel was a tad run down too, I felt wary walking back at night. The key to our room which was one of those swipe cards failed to open the door on several occasions and I had to go reception every time to get it 'renewed' - doing this from the 5th floor every time was very annoying! Staff not overly friendly or helpful. I loved Munich but wouuld for somewhere smaller and cosier and more genuine next time.

Needed a place to stay for one night close to the HBF while passing through Munich. Location is great for this if this is what you need - only about 5 mins from the station. Hotel though is quite obviously an old office building with drop ceilings, cold hallways etc. They try to gussy it up with "art" on the walls and in the lobby, but what it really needs is a whole new reconstruction. Rooms are basic and clean, though our bathroom smells like old pipes and is run down. Staff has been helpful so far. Good if your looking for no frills, but don't be fooled by the name in thinking that its more than that.
