“good position, good breakfast and clean”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 2, 2014

The hotel is really close to the city center so that you can easily move without the need of a taxi or a bus. The room was really big and modern, the bathroom as well. The best point of course is that the room was really really clean with laminate floor.
The breakfast, included in the price, was nice and tasty but mainly focused on salty foods (not that we complained...... :) ).
For 15 euro you can use the underground garage, quite comfortable if you have the car.
I would be happy to go there again.

So, I got the room in the same bldg where the reception was. The corridors , the rooms, even the elevator where dark, painted with black and dark-blue, dark-green gloomy colours--same for the room. A tiny window... Black walls, disgusting awful scary graffity on the walls all around--really scary and disgusting...looks dirty. I was feeling suffocated...didbn't know it's called _art_ today! The room was freezingly cold, no carpets, the bed-linen as well as towels were yelowish colour torn out , I guess, 30 year in use. The reception was cold, absloutely unfriendly. I checked out after 1 minute! ...they still requested full payment. (I checked out and went to Fleiming's just around the corner--it was just fabulous! and lower rates, and excellent stay)...That hotel LOOKS, Feels, and IS a mixture of GRAVE + PRISON.

Room Tip: No clue... my room was with black walls with scary graffity on walls and ceilings in dark-dark shade...

A superb base whilst exploring this excellent city. Galleries galore and then a friendly warm well priced base to return to. Breakfast was amazing. Friendly helpful staff and a stylish bar. Rooms comfy, functional, bathrooms super. Shower so strong it nearly takes your skin off! Highly recommended. Everywhere within walking distance. I'll be back!

We stayed at Arthotel Munich for two nights between Christmas and New Year. We were a family of six adults and had two three bed rooms.
We found the hotel rooms very comfortable and clean. The breakfast was very satisfying and all we needed before we ventured off for a day of sightseeing. The hotel is not in the best part of town so walking home at night was a little bit of a concern, however the hotel itself was secure and safe.
We enjoyed drinks each night at the downstairs bar however food was very limited there so you probably will need to go out for dinner. It is very close to the main train station (take the side entrance) which was very convenient as we had heavy suit cases.
I would recommend this hotel for it is good value and a very clean, pleasant place to stay.

Room Tip: Can be a bit noisy from traffic, check if there are any quieter rooms when booking.

The main selling point of this hotel would be its location. Unfortunately, if you are traveling with large suitcases in tow, the nearest exit from the train station to the hotel is not very friendly to walking traffic.

They have made efforts to decorate the hotel with art, as its name states. However, the corridors tended to have a very strong disinfectant smell, which was not the most pleasant. The breakfast was alright, we liked the colourful breakfast area. The room was pretty spacious.

We had some problems with the sofa bed in our room but the staff were pretty helpful trying to fix it for us. For a more affordable and convenient stay in Munich, I would recommend this hotel.

This hotel seems a ways away from the train station entrance, but really its very easy to reach: you walk along track 11 inside the building for about 100m. When the train station building ends, you’ll walk across a bridge and then you have an escalator down on the left. Take that, cross the street and you’re less than a minute from the hotel.

The hotel is really worth a stay: the rate is excellent (mine included breakfast), the rooms are completely renovated (as is the entrance hall and, seemingly, every other nook and cranny of the hotel), though you can tell its an old building by the extra high ceilings.

You have a short hallway in your room (with a door to the bathroom) and a door separating this from where you stay, so you should have no noise coming from the main hallway at all. My room was towards the back (which is a courtyard), so I had no street noise at all.

The room is big, the furniture all new and modern. There are paintings on the walls to freshen things up. Enough room for a desk big enough to take a laptop plus whatever else. And, much to my extreme joy, there are two outlets right on the desk!
Yes, there was even an iPhone docking clock thingie under the TV...

The bathroom is fantastic, the only thing that irked me is that the air exhaust fan turned on and off with the light switch (instead of with a delay), but that’s just me.

My room had newly-installed A/C, so you should be ok in the summer as well. Really unusual was the pillow; at first I throught I had grabbed the wrong one, as it seemed unusually hard, but it was certainly more the pillow for the night than the other one that I’d found on the bed. The hardness persisted and was somewhat of a challenge to get used to. However, I slept exceptionally well on the pillow - so well, in fact, that I took it out of the case the next morning to find out which brand and type it was.

Breakfast had everything I was looking for and took place in a nice restaurant-like atmosphere on the ground floor.

I can absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone looking to visit Munich. The vicinity to the central train station is great, you’re not in a street with half of Munich’s red-light district on it and it is a quiet street, so even a room to the front shouldn’t be an issue.

What are you waiting for?

Room Tip: The rooms to the back courtyard will likely be quieter than to the street.
