the hotel was renovated the carpets were changed the view of the mountans are magnificant ,we have been this year in the hotel for the 3 time,we enjoyed this hotel very much the breakfast is excellent,the staff is very helpful,only good things about this hotel

Probably would look elsewhere on our next trip to Garmisch. I was a little concerned when we arrived and learned there was no air condition in the rooms. That turned out OK however because of a cool evening. While it was clean, I wouyld have preferred to be closer to historic area of Garmisch

A really dire recent experience at this hotel, Where to start?, we stayed here for 4 nights with 2 rooms (1 for our 2 children) and breakfast included in August 2011. We checked in at 2.45pm some 15mins early (Everyone else seemed to be able to check in an hour before us whilst we waited?). Our rooms were not connecting (i was told you must specify connecting rooms on your booking and nothing was done to accomodate this after i queried it at reception, even after using their promotion to book a 2nd room for children specifically under 12yrs old) and we had a 10yr old and 11yr old that were supposed to share a room across and down the corridor (not very safe i'm afraid so my wife and i spent the holiday sleeping apart so our children were not left in a room on their own), One room had no door eye sight to even check who was at the door!! (Room 202). Our first breakfast was interrupted by one of the breakfast assistants who told us we had not booked breakfast (even though we had written confirmation) and we were to pay extra as we were not entitled to it, after discussion i asked her to check with hotel reception, she returned saying reception have no record of it and we must pay extra. I said i can show you our receipt for our booking and she said who did you book with?. I explained that i booked direct with the hotel via mecure website at which point the retaurant manager appeared, blocked me from leaving to get our booking confirmation to show them and demanded i sign the breakfast sheet and take it up with reception as it was not their fault in a loud enough voice to turn the heads of everyone else eating breakfast!. I explained again to him that i had proof of our entitlement and booking and he got more irrate, We left our breakfast and felt disgusted and humiliated. I spoke to reception and their system had no record of it, i showed them my booking print off and suddenly an excuse of "we have so many bookings that sometimes the computer makes mistakes" and a begrudgingly feeble apology for THEIR mistake. I cancelled all future breakfasts during our stay. (we still paid for the breakfast we didn't finish and had no apology from the restaurant staff!).
Our roomcard stopped working during our stay, no apology. The pool was not clean, we came out with more hair than we went in with and also the water was murky (We've been to this hotel 4 times in total so know that this is a recent problem) , there appeared to be no filtration at all (Usually you can feel suction on the filter vents or clean water being pumped back in....there was nothing), we mentioned this to the staff and the water was changed, however with no filtration the pool will quickly become dirty. I was told it was murky due to being "natural water".
The rooms had foot and hand marks on the walls by the beds (Room 202 especially) , they have old CRT TVs with no payTV, no wake up facility on the TVs either. No Tea or Coffee in room, No Airconditioning (35 degrees C outside, 35 degrees C inside!!), we had to ask for some fans as it was too hot to sleep and managed to get some but were told they dont have enough for all the rooms. 1 PC for the whole hotel and no ice machine either. No iron or ironing board in rooms and no safe in room.
All in all we cannot recommend this hotel at all, we've stayed 4 times in total over the past 7 years and this time it felt like a totally different hotel, the prices have gone up while the service has gone down and penny pinching has taken over. I'm waiting for my questionnaire from mecure as i am eager to tell mecure exactly what i think of being made a fool of during our breakfast.
I spoke to the manager when i left to say how disappointed we were and he seemed more interested in trying to justify a murky pool due to "natural water" than actually addressing the issue of how we were made to look like freeloaders at breakfast due to their complete incompetence and their restaurant managers arrogance. We would never return to this hotel, we have never had such a poor experience and it spoilt our holiday. Theres plenty more hotels to choose from!!!

Thank you very much for describing your impressions during you stay in our hotel. Concerning the condition of the hotel facilities we want to inform you that we started to renovate the hotel step by step. First of all we changed all the carpeted floors. We also installed an air condition for the public areas and we will change all TV’s against modern LCD flatscreen devices.

To your complaint in detail:

The booking confirmation that we have received was confirmed without breakfast. After clarification of the subject with your grievance was resolved immediately. They had to pay anything extra.

In your book you have not booked a room with connecting door. You know our house. Only by a brief phone conversation you had been able to say your wishes.

The room card is a magnetic card. Alone by contact with a mobile phone, the programing will be deleted. This may be a fault of the hotel.

Coffee and tea is a special performance has nothing to do with the minimum Standert of hotel classification. We offer this in the standard rooms not yet. In the privilege rooms it is standard.

Air condition is at about 15 days over 25 degrees per year, somewhat exaggerated. That just this week reached 32 degrees were not normal. 2 weeks before we had 8 degrees and snow meter to 1800.

1 free computer in the hall is standard Accor. But you have every room in the possibility of W-Lan.

Ice cubes are free in the restaurant. Stands in the A to Z information in the rooms.

All rooms have a peephole! Minimum standard hotel classification!

2 days before your arrival, a baby has vomited in the pool. Was immediately closed the pool and missed the entire eight water. The pool was clean and "fresh water" filled.
Now for Biology: Natural water has bacteria and small critters. Even in your drinking water. These are killed by the pool chemistry and flocculation. The circulation of the pool takes about 1 week, then the tank is clear again. According to information and inspection by the water authority has been no contamination found and released the pelvis.

All this I have already explained to you yesterday in person. I've thought of everything you understand. It is a pity for you that you did not find anything to get a discount. However, in this way to provide information to the network and is no way to doubt. The one complaint is important to us, we have shown already in conversatio

We are looking forward to welcome you again in our hotel so we get the chance to convince you of the quality of service and the hotel as well.

Some of the reviews I had read really worried me but on arrival, we were pleasantly surprised. The building is not very pretty but inside it is all nicely decorated and the reception was very welcoming. The room itself was fine - nothing to complain about at all and very comfortable for the four of us - two adults and two children. The bathroom was very small but nicely fitted out and decorated. The best thing was the view from the bedroom window - straight up to the mountains. We ate in the restaurant as it was raining and everyone was just too tired to out. Again, we were very pleasantly surprised - the food quality was excellent - lovely local dishes well-cooked and presented and not bad value for a hotel. The staff were great and made up the dishes the children wanted which made a refreshing change. The wines by the glass were lovely as was the local beer and all good value too. All in all, this hotel was far better than expected and we'd definitely return again, either if skiing or as a summer hotel.
