“Great views”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2012

Unfortunately the cable car from Eibsee was out of order, so we had to go up and down with the cogwheel train. Not so comfortable as they say.

Views are great and you have possibility to visit Austria too.

“Zugspitze”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2012

Took the Zugspitze train from Garmish all the way to the top as the cable car was closed for maintenance, This may not have been a bad thing as the cable car is very steep. The train journey was an experience not to be missed and the view from the top of Germany is spectacular. You can of course cross the border into Austria while at the top. A must to do while in the area

“Breathtaking views on a clear day”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2012

We took visitors here and were fortunate there was one clear morning out of all the rainy days we had there. They loved it in spite of the fact there was a fear of heights!

Excellent views and food! Throughly enjoyable experience and Cable cars go regularly from a nearby location and can be packed on sunny days of which there's usually lots.

“Amazing Views!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 18, 2012

The Zugspitze is known as the "Top of Germany", as it's the highest point of the country. From the top you can see 4 countries (Germany, Italy, Austria & Switzerland). This is a magnificent, gorgeous view. Words cannot do it justice.

To get there, you'd want to catch the Zugspitzbahn train in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. You would take this all the way to the end of the line at the lake Eibsee (you'll need to change trains at one point). From there, you take a lift all the way to the top of the mountain. Up here, in addition to the beautiful views, there are also a few restaurants, which do have pretty good food.

When visiting, definitely allow yourself a good amount of time for travelling (both up and down) as it can take close to an hour each way, and you may be waiting for the trains/trams for a little while.
