“Three wonderful days”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2011 via mobile

The hotel exceeded our expectations. Close to the train station, but you could take a taxi for about 12 euros. Room was spacious, clean, and quite. Lots of hot water. No A/C but temps were very comfortable. Breakfast was cold meats, cheese, some cereals, breads, and fruits. Teresa and her husband were great.

Near everything. We visited the old and new portions of town and liked the easy pace of old town.

Unfortunately we could only stay one night at the Pension Mirabell. Teresa gave us a thorough run-down on what to see and how to get around. It is a beautiful town. We were in a very large, lovely room facing the mountains and with the cool night weather we kept the windows open. We slept very well on her most comfortable beds. We took advantage of her recommendation to try the Italian restaurant catty-corner across the street (I think the name was the Venecia). It was excellent and moderately priced. They gave us a complimentary after-dinner drink as a thank you to Teresa for her recommendations. We can highly recommend Pension Mirabell.

My family and I (all adults) stayed here for three nights in mid-September. Out of all of the places we stayed during our trip to Germany, Pension Mirabell felt less like a hotel and more like staying with family!

When we arrived, Teresa greeted us complete strangers with a huge smile and warm hug. She instantly sat us down and provided us with maps, things to do, and even a card that gave us discounts on activities in the area. There was a bit of a language barrier, but we all got along just fine.

The rooms were impeccably clean and the bathroom was incredibly modern. Two of us stayed in a one bedroom, and the other three in the party stayed in a loft that could have accommodated 5 persons.

Breakfast each morning was a delicious spread of cold cuts, cheeses, fruit, cereals...the list goes on. Teresa and her husband personally served us. There was also a little self-serve bar in the basement where you could help yourself to a bottle of beer for only 1.50 euro.

Based on Teresa's suggestions, we visited the palace and grounds at Linderhof. We had rented a car in Munich so we took the 30 minute drive with no problems. We also drove to Neuschwanstein Castle. Unfortunately, it was quite foggy while we were in Garmisch so we didn't have a chance to take the gondola to Zugspitze, but we enjoyed shopping and strolling around the town instead.

If you are planning on visiting the Garmisch-Partenkirchen area alone or with your family, do not hesitate to stay at Pension Mirabell!

I got a a few days off work just before I left Germany last year and decided to go to Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
The staff is amazingly welcoming, friendly, and helpful!
The place is very clean and the rooms are very comfortable.
They provide an excellent breakfast in the morning and are just minutes walk from several eateries and about a ten minute walk from a decent pub.
If you are looking for a well located and relaxing place to stay in the area I would highly recommend the Pension Mirabell!

I don't normally complete feedback, however I thought it of value to others who a trawling the net trying to find good accomodation in Garmisch Partenkirschen. Mirabell was nice and central, we walked to all restaurants, with a just a short drive to the ski slopes. We had an excellent stay at Mirabell, Teresa and her husband were very hospitable. The accomodation was clean, tidy and homely- great value for money for a family of 4- B&B. GP was beautiful, very picturesque. The kids had ski lesson, try one of the lesser known ski schools like Ski Alpen, they are a 1/3rd of the price of the first google search options. Food at the WildSchurtz was very good, however you need to book.Hope you find this brief summary of use.

Located on a quiet side street is this charming pension. We stayed during the summer months in one of their larger two-floor suites (which is pictured on their website - features a stairwell inside the unit to the loft area).

We found the proprietors VERY friendly! They don't speak English very well, if at all, but we spoke German, so no problem!

The mini-apartment/suite we occupied was spotlessly clean and spacious. Snowy white linens and fluffy down comforters awaited us on the beds. This unit features a small dining table, living area with small TV, phone, bath and ample closets on 2nd floor of hotel. Once in the unit, there's a stairwell to the loft area which featured a sofa bed and separate twin mattresses. The room was bright and airy; a small terrace stood outside. The view was not memorable (we had cloud cover limiting our view), but once on the terrace, a limited view of the ski slopes is possible. The furnishings were a few years old, but did not show appreciable wear. The room was quiet - we did NOT hear anyone in the hallway or in neighboring rooms.

The bathroom was immaculate. Excellent linens were provided - soft, amply-sized. Plenty of hot water and good pressure!

Off the living room is a small bedroom with two twin beds and a window. Mattresses were firm and comfortable. There was a closet for additional belongings; the bedroom was made private with a sliding pocket door.

Complimentary breakfast was provided; it was delicious, quite complete; they offered some items cooked to order. A lovely spread of breads, hard-boiled eggs, cheeses, hams, jellies/preserves, coffee/tea and juices were offered.

Pension Mirabel is more like a bed-and-breakfast. I do not remember any public rooms for socializing. Their "bar" was not open during our stay; there is no restaurant other than a breakfast room. Public street parking only. No lift/elevator; not wheelchair accessible. Rooms on 2nd floor require access by stairwell.

Pension Mirabel is 2-star on the basis of the very limited services it offers; but it is sparkling clean, quiet and very private. There are limited services - this is NOT a four-star hotel, so don't expect room service or should you need a towel, there may NOT be someone immediately available for "instant response service". What it offers is an EXCELLENT and very, very FAIR price - perfect for the budget-minded or a family with children. The mini apartment/suite is perfect for a family of four or five. This is not an ideal hotel for singles or anyone interested in features (health spa, bar, pool, etc.)

Dining, entertainment is anywhere from a moderate to long walk (> five or six blocks). Downtown Garmisch is a ten-minute walk. As we weren't here during ski season, we don't know how far a walk it is to the lifts.

We checked off "comfortable" purely because we were two people staying in a room that was VERY SPACIOUS for just two people. If five or six stay here, one might say "snug" and "cozy" as opposed to comfortable.
