“Exceeded all expectations!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 30, 2013

We spent three nights at Alpenhof (two parents, one child, and a grandparent). The location cannot be beat. A beautiful view of the mountains, with cows munching in the meadow during afternoon Kaffee & Kuchen.

The pros:
- Everything about the food. Fantastic dinners, wonderful breakfast spread, and tasty afternoon treats.
- Great local attractions. Salzbergwerke, Koenigsee, Salzburg.
- Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Really, this is a hotel with first-rate service.
- The prices are far superior to what one will find in G-P.

I would recommend this to anyone looking for a family vacation in a lovely setting.

Room Tip: We stayed in the suite.

I recently stayed at the hotel booking two rooms for my daughter and myself. The staff throughout our stay were very extremely welcoming and helpful. The hotel was very clean throughout and the rooms well appointed. There was a good choice of food at breakfast and in the evening we experienced both the A La Carte and Fixed menu all of which were extremely well presented. We only have positives to say about this hotel and the staff.

My wife and I have not been on a vacation for over 5 years and we could not have asked for a better place to stay. This resort is amazing. The staff is super friendly and they know how to connect with their guests. By the second day, every staff member was calling me by my name. Where do you get that type of treatment? Also, the resort is perfectly located. It's a 5 minute drive to the city's small downtown, a 30 minute drive to Salzburg and a 15 minute drive to Konigssee. I cannot say anything negative about this place. It is amazing and I would HIGHLY recommend it to anyone.

Room Tip: All of their rooms are great.

We spent two nights at Alpenhof. It is located about a mile north of the Konigssee and a few miles south of Berchtesgaden. Also, it is about only 30-40 minutes from Salzburg. Although rural, we loved the mountainous and peaceful setting. Alpenhof's staff was very friendly and accommodating. The rooms are beautiful, clean, spacious and well kept. Very comfortable beds and upscale bathrooms. Restaurant (breakfast and dinner typically included in fare) was terrific with a wide selection of appetizers and entrees and excellent service. They also have a very pleasant afternoon tea, just right after a day on the Konigssee or Eagle's Nest or both. We had a wonderful stay here because of the setting, the facilities and service. A true Bavarian experience.

We recently spent 2 nights in this hotel and really wished we could stay longer! It was a pleasure from the moment we stepped inside the front door. The hotel exuded charm with a real homely atmosphere. We were warmly greeted at reception and personally shown to our very spacious double room with a wonderful view of the garden and surrounding countryside. We spent heavenly relaxation time in the wellness area which had 2 large swimming pools and a lovely relaxation area. The breakfast was great and there was afternoon tea with cakes, cold meats and a selection of bread. The restaurant area is bright and airy and there is a lovely seated area near reception to enjoy the open fire and a lovely glass of wine! I couldn't fault the staff who were all extremely helpful and friendly. There was an extensive selection of books to read during relaxation time and this including English text. There is lots to do in the surrounding area. The hotel is located approx. 5 mins drive from the town of Berchtesgaden and about 10 mins from Konnigsee in a quiet rural location. I recommend a visit to the Eagles nest and Dokumentation museum. I suggest doing the museum first to gather information on Hitler and Nazi party before taking the bus and elevator to the Eagles nest site. There is plenty of hiking in the Berchtesgaden national park. I highly recommend a stay in Alpenhof and it was a highlight of our 2 week holiday in Germany and Austria.

Room Tip: Request a room with a view to the gardens and surrounding countryside. Allow time to enjoy the welln...

We have nothing but raves to say about this hotel. Although the hotel, spa facilities and location are excellent, what puts this hotel a notch above all others we have ever stayed at is the staff. What a pleasure it is to be greeted and served by such friendly, helpful and professional staff.
