The reviews of this HIlton Garden Inn and Le Meridien made me go a bit back and forth on which hotel to choose as they both get great marks, with this hotel classed as slightly less luxurious. However, for me, the proximately to Mercedes-Benz as well as being out of the even more busy city center, for driving, made it my only choice.
Upon arrival, they checked for my room five hours early, which was very kind. I did get the room eventually three hours before check-in, again, a nice touch that they cared so much.
They printed me a receipt for free Wi-Fi access, which worked perfect on my iPhone.
The "Pavilion Pantry," is convenient at this hotel, considering there did not seem to be anywhere nearby to buy some of the necessities like snacks and beverages. They sell beverages, snack items, and some items to microwave in your room. However, the prices are a bit steep, particularly for the bottled water at 3.90 Euros. The German cola is quite delicious at 3 Euro for a small quantity. On check-out, we finally found out there was a free water cooler with cups available next to check-in at the lobby. We had become very dehydrated flying over and during our stay, so we really wish we had found out about this sooner as the 3.90 water sold out every few hours it seemed from other thirsty guests. It would have also been nice if the Pavilion Pantry had something for the microwave without meat, perhaps a cheese pizza for example, but perhaps that would be unpopular in Germany.
The restaurant, like the front desk, had the kindest staff. There was not a available without meat, but the staff kindly prepared something for me, on my custom request. It tasted fresh.
The hotel is very modern, which led to some confusion, on my part. For example, I could not figure out how to call the front desk based on the phone labels, so I had to call "outside," the hotel and get a charge on my bill, for calling the front desk. You must also insert your room key in a slot next do your room's door, otherwise none of the room's lighting will turn on.
One of the walls in my room looked a bit dirty from people putting their shoes against it or something, but otherwise the room was first rate. The staff was probably the nicest I had ever seen at any hotel worldwide, and everything else was at least adequate. I only hope I get to return to this hotel sometime in the future. The walk to the Mercedes-Benz museum is less than five minutes.
