“Clean and functional economy hotel in excellent location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 18, 2012

Motel One Stuttgart-Hauptbahnhof is a very clean, functional chain budget hotel on a superb location. It is the newer of the two Motel Ones in Stuttgart and reputedly the cleaner one. It is also slightly costlier, but given its location this should be the better choice in most circumstances.

The location of this Motel One is indeed excellent. It is just one block from Stuttgart Hauptbahnhof (main train station), making it an ideal base for day trips to other Swabian towns like Tübingen. Nearby places like Ludwigburg and Esslingen can be easily reached via the S-Bahn (suburban train) network, and the underground Hauptbahnhof S-Bahn station actually has an exit right in front of the hotel. Also, most of the interesting sights in Stuttgart are within walking distance from Hauptbahnhof; Staatsgalerie and Schlossplatz are close by, and even Hegelhaus can be reached on foot.

The central location also brings the advantage of facing large groceries and drug stores just across the street. In particular, there is a Rewe (higher-quality supermarket, plus a small bakery) that is larger than most other Rewe’s, as well as a Rossmann (drug store). For all other shopping, just head to the vibrant Königstraße, one block away.

This hotel, being pretty new, is also very clean and well-maintained. As to be expected from the chain, the room is small and amenities sparse, but is functionally laid out and well-heated. Bathroom is also very clean, though the lack of a door or a curtain for the shower booth does inevitably leads to wet floor after a shower. The staffs were well-trained and very friendly. The front desk personnel spoke excellent English and were efficient, and the maids we encountered were smiling and accommodating.

In summary, Motel One Stuttgart-Hauptbahnhof is a clean, functional, and reliable city hotel on a truly great location. Yes it is just a chain budget hotel and won’t likely awe or inspire or move you, but it definitely achieves what it professes to be, and it is very good and efficient at what it aims to do. We recommend this hotel to all economical travelers looking for a well-rounded lodging in Stuttgart.

Very very clean hotel in the centre of Stuttgart and a few minutes walk from the main train station.

Nice bar area and well apointed rooms though I thought a little on the small side

Showers great in the wet room

Ask for a room facing the courtyard if you want to leave your window open and have it quieter

“Great Loaction at a Good price”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 9, 2012

I have at the other Motel One in Stuttgart a couple of times but the location of this new one is much better. It is right in the middle of the city with an entrance to the Hauptbahnhof at the front door.
If its your first time to a Motel One you might find the facilities - specifically the room facilities a bit miniminalist. The rooms are small, there is no phone, no wardrobe, the bathroom is small and toiletries are limited. Yet I've given the hotel 5 stars....Why? This is a value hotel that delivers exactly what it says it will. The rooms are clear and comfortable. Shower has good power. The public facilities are good and there is a 24 hour reception. Its an excellent hotel as a base for a city trip.
The breakfast is a nice selection of cold meats and cheeses, boiled eggs, fruit, cereals and yogurt. It was good value at €7.50 which includes wifi access.
I would definitely stay here again.

“Missing alot of the "little extras"”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 25, 2012

We were here for my sons wedding, a party of 10. Our room with my daughter, was one bed, very small with no extra room around the bed for luggage. We felt cluttered. No rack or table for the luggage. No .drawers for clothes, and no real closet. I hung my dress for the wedding on a rack that was over the full length mirrow in the room. They had small shelves up the wall on one side of the bed.Luggage was up and down off the bed to get our clothes for lack of drawers. No complimentary room coffee, tea, bottled water, refrigerator or even a phone. We were there 3 days, and never had any complimentary shampoos, lotion, shower cap etc. The other members in our group had same issue with there rooms. It WAS very close to city center. Close to main train depot, we walked to the hotel with our "roller" luggage. Definatly a business type hotel for short stays. Bring your own snacks for the room.. Just a place to sleep nothing extra.

Room Tip: Dont trust the online pictures of hotels. Read a few real reviews will help.

“Great location; excellent service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 24, 2012

Just to agree with all the other good reviews: why pay more when you can enjoy a great (if small) room, be treated like royalty at the front desk and step directly off the train (or S-Bahn) towards the city of Stuttgart? The hotel is new (it opened early in 2012) and part of a newly developing chain giving Accor hotels (Ibis, Mercure, Novotel) a run for their money. One further detail that convinces: for EURO 7.50 you get a day's worth of free internet access and a buffet-style breakfast that offers everything a family could want. Compared to the EURO 9 and 16 Accor charges for internet access and breakfast, that's a real bargain.
