“There were no maritime signs a part from the hotels name in blue . . .”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 10, 2012

A very convenient place to stay in Stuttgart, a city where you need navigation in your hire car. Our rooms where in a separate building (2 floors down, a rather long walk a long a gallery before taking the lift up again). A bit confusing, but no problem. My room was very spacious however a bit out-dated, although 2 tv-sets, own sleeping room and a spacious living room. Their breakfast was sumptuous. The hotel staff was very nice and helpful, whether you met them in the front desk area, dining or breakfast room. We enjoyed our dinner in their restaurant, may be their food & beverage manager should add some more local dishes on the menu. Again, it was as pleasant to have dinner as breakfast there. Indeed, no need to leave the hotel. The parking facilities were very convenient, too. Enjoy your stay at the Maritim. Soon or later management should change the hotel name at least in Stuttgart and finally, may be even their internett site.

Room Tip: My room was located on the 8th floor.

Dear guest,

Thank you very much for your post at tripadvisor.

We will - of course - pass your compliments through to our staff.

For your next stay: You can reach the "park wing" also over our courtyard using your key card at the entrance; this would be a bit nearer and less to walk.

See you at your next time in Stuttgart (with navigation ;)

“Quiet room in a convenient downtow location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

Well appointed and convenient rooms in a good location. Some (including mine) room are in a separate building connected through an underground walkway), which is a bit out of the way. However, the rooms in this building are pretty quiet. The breakfast was very good, and the staff helpful.

“Smell old, internet sucks”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

On a business trip some of the most inportant factor is being able to get things done and reduce hassles to the maximum. I stayed in that hotel for 5 nights, so I had plenty of time to check it.
The hotel is OK and rooms are large and clean. However, the carpets on the walking halls are old, look used and smell like an old hotel. That is the first feeling you get when cehcking in.

The Internet provided by T-Mobile Telekon sucks. Signal is very weak in most area in the hotel but lobby. Forget using it in your room or int the breakfast area unless you have a very good antenna. I had with me iphone 4S, iphone 5, Ipad 2 and a 2012 macbook Air. Only the Air could catch the signal. In my room, I had to sit close to the door to get sufficient signal. At 19 Euros for 10 hours connection time, I choose the 34 Euro package valid for one month. But T-Mobile does not care to get you a good signal. I complained a couple of time to the managment but they seems unable to fix that.

Want to get an iron and ironning board. Wrong. You cannot get one to your room for "safety reason". To get your cloth ironed, you have to pay 3 to 5 Euros depending on what it is, or go to 2nd floor to the ironning station. The station is right in the middle of the coridor. The lighning is poor and the chain that attached the board to wall is too short so that you can drag it close to a closer light bulb. It's been 30 years I am travelling world wide and had never seen this in an hotel that class.

I always use 2 phones while on the road, one with a local sim cards to get cheap local rate for data and call and my regular cell phone so that people calling my on my usual number can get me where ever I am. But the room is mising power plugs. There is only one on top of the desk. So you need to carrefully manage charging of all your devices one by one: phones, laptop, tablet...

The AC in my room did not work ok too. I lowerred the temp control to the minimum and still had to get the window open to have a decent temperature. Shower controls uses 2 facets, hot and cold water. It takes time to get the right temp. Why not having a standard single mixer ? TV is a 20 years old tube device.

Try to get a room on the back side of the hotel, because the front street is pretty busy all the time.

Room Tip: Try to get a room on the back side of the hotel, because the front street is pretty busy all the tim...

“Wouldn't go back!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 19, 2012

This hotel is relatively clean in a fairly good location but it isn't good enough! The interior is very dated and the facilities need improving Overall it needs a massive refurbishment. It feels like it is out if the 1970s. Definitely not the sort of place we would normally stay and so we reduced our stay from two nights to one.
Staff are quite friendly and helpful.

The positive thing - Food was good - lots of choice at breakfast.

Dear guest,

Thank you very much for your post at tripadvisor.

Of course the furnishings etc. from an older house like Stuttgart are not comparable to the newest house of our hotel group in Düsseldorf. But our company has each year a budget for the older hotels for renovation works, also for the MARITIM Hotel Stuttgart. Unfortunately we cannot give a concrete time window at this moment now.

The compliments for our staff will be passed through to the colleagues.

We would be happy if you rethink your decision and come back to us at your next stay in Stuttgart.
