“Great Stay - "Home from Home"”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 11, 2014

Thank you very much for our stay at Hotel Blankenburg in the first week of March 2014.
The staff was very professional. The owner family did everything to make our stay
comfortable and tried to satisfy all our wishes. The hotel room was clean and the
furnitures fitted our needs perfectly. The bathroom was up to date. The breakfast buffet
was extremely good. We will come back soon!!!

3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 31, 2013

We stayed in this hotel in May 2012. The hotel is better than it first appears from the street. It is in an older building that fronts on a busy thoroughfare. The reception area is uninspiring and the lift is small, typical of an older building.

The receptionist was delightful and offered information about the city and provided a map of the inner city. The hotel is located within an easy walking distance to the inner city and the gardens.

Our room was toward the rear of the building, with a window on a quiet alley. With the window open, we heard no traffic noise. The room was small and did not receive a lot of light through the one window. However, the room was brightly painted, neat, clean, and decorative. The furnishings in the room were neat and gave the appearance of being well maintained. The bed was very comfortable. The room contained a press for pants, adequate storage space for clothing, a flat screen TV, and wood flooring.

The furnishings in the bathroom appeared to be new. The bathroom contained a hairdryer, a weight scale, and more than adequate towels. The lighting, however, was not the best in the bathroom

The breakfast rooms were brightly lit, brightly colored, large, and pleasantly decorated. The breakfast buffet was quite nice, with tasty and plenty offerings.

On balance, the hotel was perfectly suited to our needs for a short stay.

We hadn't booked in advance but managed to park outside the hotel (it's a very busy main road) and got a clean, quiet room at the back. The staff were very friendly and spoke good English. There was an extremely good buffet breakfast with a lot of choice for less than €5 each. Competitively priced: it's perfectly practical for an overnight stop.

Room Tip: Be at the back of the hotel to avoid the busy main road

Stayed here in December 2011 with a friend. Booked via Booking.com and got a good deal. Arrived at lunch time and room was ready. Room was at the front of the hotel and was a bit noisy because of the main road outside. We needed the windows open (even in December) as it was too hot in the room. Bathroom was small and shower area very small but having said that it was functional. The breakfast was the best thing about this hotel. Lots of different types of meats, fish and cheeses. Many types of tea to choose from and the fruit and yoghurt section was excellent. Location of hotel was perfect as it is just 10 minutes from the main market square and all the trams. I would stay here again but would ask for a room at the back where it is less noisy.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back if you don't want noise

A quiet, pleasant hotel, comfortable, recently modernised rooms, decent breakfast, friendly staff. The hotel has a sauna in the basement and you can rent bicycles, ideal for exploring this flat, compact city. Slightly off the beaten track but within five minutes walk of 'Etlinger Tor' Tram stop, linking you to the station and all the centres of activity in Karlsruhe. Main shopping street, Kaiserstrasse is also only seven or eight minutes walk, the Schloss a few minutes more. The hotel is on a busy street but most rooms are to the rear and are quiet. The hotel has a bar and there are a few local bars and restaurants in the vicinity.
