As a Marriott platinum elite member, I have a good sense of this chain's room quality, including international properties. The Heidelberg Marriott has very comfortable rooms for the price paid. Staff I encountered were personable and VERY helpful, using well spoken English. For example, they can sell you tokens for the Heidelberg bus OR trolley service to the "historic" area. The Spa area and workout space is quite adequate and clean. The executive lounge is well maintained and worth the upgrade cost, if one must pay the difference. The view of the river is romantic, as the hotel is directly on the river. The restaurant is well staffed, has a very polite host, and was an excellent value. FREE coffee/tea in the lobby in the morning is a bonus feature, for all guests. To the Hotel from the Main train station is about a 7 Euro trip, one way. To the hotel from the station is not easily walkable from the "BahnHof", as there is a major road to navigate to get to the hotel.
AIRPORT TRANSPORT HINT: Rather than Train (One train connection required to FRA), ASK the front desk staff to arrange van transport TO/FROM Frankfurt Airport (FRA). The one hour travel to FRA via Van transport TO FRA picks you up RIGHT at the hotel and was BILLED directly to my room account (very convenient). While there are other, VERY nice hotels in central Heidelberg, I suggest you try this hotel for business or leisure stays.
