“Good location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 9, 2013 via mobile

Great location, friendly helpfull staff, free wi fi. Average breakfasts, rooms were ok, clean & small. It can be noisy at night Next door is a hotel bar independently operated. Good food & service. The location is right on the Neckar river which attracts a lot of tourists.

My wife and I began our 10 day trip through germany and france in heidelberg not knowing anything about Heidelberg. After a long flight and train from frankfurt to heidelberg we were starting to drag a little. Having booked Hotel Hollender Hof online we weren't sure what we would find. We turned the corner and found a gem of a hotel and city. The Hotel was exactlt what we needed.Clean , welcoming staff and great room . BUT WHATA VIEW. The location was perfect. The view from our room was as good as any we ever stayed and the location was perfect. We walked everywhere. Heldelberg instantly became one of our favorite cities we have visited.

This hotel is a gem overlooking the Neckar river, at the gates of the Old Bridge in Heidelberg. The staff was very welcoming & knowlegeable. Parking is a bit tricky. Drive right to the hotel; they have a parking area right in front & unload your bags into the foyer. The desk staff gives a map & directions and you must drive a good quarter of a mile through the Old Town to get to Parking Garage 12. It is part way up a hill and around a curve. Take your parking sticker back to the hotel & they validate it for a parking discount. It was a little complicated & just not what we are used to in North America. However, that is all part of the charm of staying in the Old Towns of some European cities. On departure, walk & get the car, return with it to the hotel & load your luggage back in. Otherwise you are dragging your luggage on those cobblestone streets--not fun.
We had a lovely room overlooking the bridge & river and across to Philosopher's Walk. All was well until night time when we heard the late night revellers heading home & antics on the bridge. I might be tempted to ask for a room in back, next time.
The hotel has a public use internet service. The desk staff actually set it up for you, since the computer is hidden away in a cupboard in the foyer.
Breakfast is excellent & in a lovely large room: eggs, meats, cheeses, cereal, pastries etc

Our family of five really enjoyed our stay here! The staff was very accommodating to our family and they had already brought in an extra cot when we arrived. We enjoyed being able to step outside our hotel and being in the center of town near great shopping & restaurants. Heidelburg is a great city and Hollander Hof was a perfect place to stay.

This is an excellent location, right in the heart of Heidelberg's old town. While the breakfast buffet looked decent, I appreciated the choice of a cheaper "business breakfast", which provided pretty decent coffee and enough food to get going in the morning without breaking the bank. Beyond that, the hotel was comfortable enough, and the staff pleasant and helpful.

My husband and I stayed here in September of 2012. All in all, it was a nice hotel. The location was perfect for walking everywhere. Our room overlooked the bridge. The rooms had lovely high ceilings and the view was wonderful.
The breakfast was very nice. The only problem we had was that they did not explain clearly at all how to get from the hotel to the parking garage and my husband and I wasted an hour trying to find the place. Needless to say, we were both very frustrated by the experience.

This charming independent hotel is right off the "gateway" to the city from the "Alt Brucke" (Neckar River Bridge), and steps from the famed Holy Ghost Church and the core downtown of Heidelberg. Off site parking garage is only a few minutes walk form the hotel and reasonable. The front desk staff was helpful and knowledgeable. The European breakfast buffet breakfast was expanded and generous. If you enjoy the independent hotel experience, this one is a great value for the location.
