“An average hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 9, 2013

The hotel is located next to the train station but far away from the old city and the castle. It is not really walkable to old city in hot summer unless you are good at walking. Hotel stafff told me that we needed to walk about 20 minutes to old city and 1 hour to castle. However, you may take the public transportation to old city or drive to the old city.

I drove to the hotel. There are free parking spaces at the front and back of the hotel building. Be careful that you need to park at the places that have IBIS mark. I saw that the car park was always full. I was just lucky to get a parking space at near the entrance. If you see no parking space at the front, you may ask the hotel staff to give you a map to guide you to the back door of the hotel.

The hotel room is small and IBIS style. The room is clean and air-conditioned. My room faced to the rail station. I did not hear much noise from the railway. Staff are ok.

Wifi is free at lobby. At evening, you will see a lot of people using computer at the lobby.

PROS: 1. Clean rooms. 2. Good location. Near train station. 3. Near McDonald and other decent restaurants. 4. The train station has supermarket. 5. The front desk is nice and helpful. 6. Reasonable price.

CONS: 1. The room we booked is too small. 2. The breakfast is too expensive (10 Euro I remember). We had to choose McDonald which is much cheaper. 3. Wifi is not free in the rooms. So you have to sit in the lobby for internet.

In a word, I may choose this hotel again if we travel there in the future.

Great little budget hotel just next to train station, with McDonald's and Burger King just next to it. Just a little bit far if u plan to walk to the city centre area, but its not a problem as from train station u could use trams to go main city centre.no problem at all...

I stayed at the this hotel for 6 nights with a colleague while attending for a conference. The hotel locates at a very good location, just by the station. It is quite clean and but the rooms are quite small.
All in all, I really liked the hotel but one thing made myself quite annoyed and warn you in advance. I was staying at the lobby (where you have free internet only here, not rooms), at 23:30, three people came in to the hotel with large luggages to check in. The receptionist said that they book via booking.com and they found that their credit card is invalid. Therefore the hotel cancelled their booking and gave their room to someone else. Even though the people shocked and tried to find what to do, the receptionist said I don't know, there is no room available in Heidelberg tonight. The attitude was quite rude, even I was annoyed and pity on the people. It took sometime but eventually, I think the receptionist helped them to find another hotel at a close city, where they had to pay for the taxi as well.
I am not sure, what is the usual practice for online booking, but if this was a very high quality hotel, they would call/email those people before cancelling their room and prevent making people shocked. So my warning is maybe call them to confirm before arrive to Heidelberg.
