“Excellent meal”

Every mouthful of our main courses were absolutely delicious. The staff were attentive but not overbearing .A definite must if eating out in Heidelberg!

“Authentic German and warm atmosphere”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 25, 2012 via mobile

The restaurant was recommended by our hotel, but we were sceptical based on some of the reviews. When we entered we were warmly greeted by the host and shown a cozy table in the corner. The waiter spoke excellent English, serving us quickly and efficiently. Amongst us we had a variety of meals, including wiener schnitzel and rouladen. Hands down, these were the best traditional German plates we have eaten and we have traveled extensively in German speaking countries. The house beer was also very good, served in a ceramic beer stein. We'll definitely go back and I highly recommend it to others.

“Absolutely awful service!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed December 19, 2012

We have traveled to many states, islands and countries, and, quite possibly, have never had such a bad experience with a waitress. We were in Heidelberg for about 4 days in December and wanted a great authentic German restaurant. The food was not bad at all, but certainly not outstanding (my third visit to Germany). The waitress was awful. We had a long day of sightseeing and asked if they served any bread before the meal. We were charged 1 Euro for each piece of bread, and she threw the basket on the table. She continued to be rude the duration of our meal. Maybe she doesn't like Americans. Don't bother going there as there are other great places in Heidelberg.

“Very accomodating to Wheelchair Guest. Food was very good.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 14, 2012

We came in on Saturday night into a busy restaurant and were quickly seated at a quiet table, the, same one we sat at two years ago! The food was very good, Weinerschnitzel and Turkey with ham and spinich. We were treated very attentively by the owners wife who was happy to try to make our meal & experience wonderful.............she succeeded!

“A restaurant where they segregate you”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 13, 2012

We were recommended to go to this restaurant by the staff at our hotel. However, we were not treated the same as them. Firstly, we were put in a side room with just 3 or 4 tables in. We soon realised that this room was for 'the foreigners' as the tables were made up of English, Americans, Australians and Spanish on the night we were there. All the German clientele were in the main restaurant. Although the food was good, the waitress assigned to us did not smile once the whole time she served us. When we got the bill, we found variations as to what was priced on the menu. Our wine was three times more on our bill than it was listed on the menu. When we complained the owner showed us a different menu where it was priced the same. This was obviously the menu for foreigners. It was only when we told her we were going to give a very bad report to the hotel about her restaurant that she gave us the wine for the German price. Never again!
