Beautiful, very quiet area. Schwarzwald Strasse out of Freiburg, starts numbers again in the 200s after a small bridge over a stream so one has to make sure they go past the swimming pool to find the hotel, after the 200s begin again. We found this out after a very hot day, where no parking was available in the wrong district. There is good parking at Gaesthaus Ruh! The strassenbahn runs into town until 1 am and there is a 48 hr pass for 9E for two. No ice is available but the price is right

Room tip: If you go during hot weather, reserve a room on a lower level in back. There is no air conditioning or ice available

Another excellent "Guest house" during our anniversary trip to Germany.

We were able to explore a LOT of places from here. Everything from the clock museum and numerous other places in the Black Forest, to a VERY charming Alstatd area, to Switzerland (Augusta Raurica), and even France (Haute Konigsberg and Montagne des Seinges).

The room was clean, spacious and comfortable. The WiFi was just fine. The breakfast room was well stocked and the service there was very good.

The restaurant in front was superb, but a bit expensive. Still, we very much enjoyed our meal there. If you're on more of a budget and have a rental car, you can save a lot of money by picking up sandwiches and other food at (if you can believe it) the main train station downtown (Hauptbanhof) less than a 10 minute drive away. The stores in there are open later than the ones in the neighborhood and they also have several food shops for sandwiches, patries and other things you might expect in a food court.

We was visiting Freiburg and we stay here. It is very fair, not luxury, but nice rooms and good breakfast. For that money I recomand the location. The young couple that owns or administrate the house are very nice.

Room tip: I think not all room have balcony. I was in May 2012, but I mention September becouse the real date was passed in field.

I went with a friend from the lower part of Germany, and we hired a car, drove through the countryside on out way to Frankfurt. We stayed the night at this place which is in Freiburg, and I have to say it is very country and German. I liked it, it's simple, humble and is surrounded by nature and amazing geography. The guy who runs it also owns it I think, and speaks good, servicable English. He even puts in the effort so guests enjoy their stay, as it was shown in breakfasts where he would put out extra bread, meats and boiled eggs. The place itself is a little bit far, we have to walk a few hundred metres to a local tram, and then from there on the tram into the city centre. One negative aspect is that there were some flies/mosquitoes, however harmless, hovering around the windows. But, for the price and comfort, I cannot complain, a really nice place!
