This hotel is in an ideal location for overseas visitors. Positioned right next to the railway station is is just a short walk from the train and a pleasant 5-10 minutes walk into the city centre. The Hotel also provides free travel on the city trams and buses. Provided you learn the German word for railway station ( bahnof ) you can ask anyone for directions that will lead you back to your hotel. Next door to the Hotel are some cheap take away food venues and in the station there are several places were an overseas visitor can select their food by sight if they cannot read the Germen menus. One block away in EisenbahnstraBe is a budget pasta restaurant and a little further along in Rathausgasse Street I found a restaurant offering 50 % off pasta, pizza or salad, making it possible to by a meal and mineral water for 5 Euro.
Whilst it was possible to hear the trains at night I did not consider the noise was loud enough to be a problem. I was disappointed that there were no tea making facilities in the room but on request I was provided with a themos of boiling water.
All of the staff were pleasant enough, but there was one male member of their staff who was exceptionally competent and more sensitive to the needs of the overseas guests. The cleaning staff should also be commended.
Internet access is expensive and be warned at the end of the hour you are disconnected without warning.
Breakfast was magnificent- a grand array of both English and German breakfast items to choose from and serviced by very competent staff.
I would certainly recommend this hotel for non German speaking visitors and my only suggestion would be that you ask for a room on one of the upper floors to reduce the train noise, but even level 2 is okay.
