“Best location in Freiburg”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 1, 2013

If you want to visit the old town and the city itself its the best place to stay.
The reception was extremely polite. helpful and friendly. We like the personal help of Mr. Heinz Wolff at the reception. Knowledgable, friendly and smiling. We are living in Asia and feel it, but more often than not staff at the hotels are not as friendly as here at the reception.
The breakfast was very good, but the dinner in the restaurant just average. We were too tired after arriving to go to one of the restaurants around the beautiful church only 200 metres away from the hotel.
Unfortunately the cleaning service for the room was very sloppy. The bed was hardly done, the towels not folded since we asked to reuse the towels, no cleaning of the flooring with vacuum cleaner. A very rush job.
We liked the coffee machine in the room. However they have no safety box in the room.

the view is quite pretty, that's it! The rooms are too small (average and sad forniture) and the toilet is ok, BUT for the price it is a shame not including the breakfast (16 euro per person!!!) and otrageus making you pay 3 euro each hour to use the wifi. The only valuable things are the location, just behind the Munster and the view, which might be not even nice if you are not staying at least at the 4th floor. I won't recommand this hotel unless you are in Freiburg for work. Then your company is paying for it and its ok.

Room Tip: try to get the upper floor rooms

This hotel is very central to the old town, with only 3 mins walk to the cathedral. In fact we can see it from our room.

We had a triple room, so our room is rather bigger then normal. There is a park and a cable on the other side of the street which is very nice to visit.

There is no free wifi in the room. It cost €9.50 for 24h access or €5 if you have the Accor card (membership is free to join).

This only negative about this place is if you are coming to the city by train then this can be a bit inconvenient. It takes a good 15 walk to the train on mostly cobbles street, so not recommended for big luggage.

Arrived late in the afternoon on a Saturday by car, entered the parking garage located underneath the hotel and took the elevator upstairs to the reception. Friendly and efficient check-in process and all wishes granted... quiet room on a high floor. We went up to the room and found a pleasant room that was clean and comfortable with a view of the surrounding Black Forest hills. The beds were very comfortable. The hotel is perfectly located in the center of the historical city making it possible to walk to all points of interest including the Cathedral and the many restaurants and wine locations. All in all a great value for the money. Highly recommended!

Room Tip: High floor away from the city center to have a nice view of the surrounding hills.

got all the essentials to host comfortably, good clean room and bathroom, underground parking (at cost), very good location for visiting Freibourg as all is within walking distance.
Stayed there as a stop over hotel en route to Switzerland, so just this hotel did it for us.
breakfast a bit pricy but then the quality is fair (good choices, got hot food also) and wanted to hit the road early morning so it was cool.

We enjoyed our night at this hotel. The location is perfect, being in the centre and accessible to the lovely delights of the city of Freiburg. Round the corner is a vibrant and buzzing locale with plenty of restaurants and sights. The room was comfortable and clean and the staff polite and welcoming. Breakfast was excellent, with a wide variety of options.
Knocked off a star for the policy of charging for wifi - an outdated policy surely (it appears Ibis hotels offer free wifi, but many Mercure hotels charge for it - curious), and also the expensive parking at 17 Euros per night.
