“excellent pastries and cakes with high-quality ingredients, charming indoor daytime restaurant and outdoor café”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 19, 2013

For years I came here to the patisserie shop to splurge on fruit tarts, coffee and cream cakes. I assumed from the elegant crowd that the daytime restaurant would be expensive. How mistaken I was! The prices are moderate considering the quality. The place is an especially welcoming environment for women alone, the service attentive and friendly. When the weather permits, the protected outdoor café is quiet and pleasant. The restaurant serves lunch and superb brewed coffee and teas all afternoon. The pastry shop in front also has delicious homemade chocolates, croissants, rolls, sweet bread and quiches. A great place to people watch, dine with friends, read a book or stare peacefully into space.

“First class food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 6, 2013

When in the Black Forest I guess you should eat black forest cake. We did and were not disappointed at all. Excellent coffee added to the experience. Warm, comfortable seating and prices that were more than reasonable make this place a winner.

“Spoil yourself!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 30, 2013

This is one of the most famous pâtisseries in Germany, thoroughly deserving its reputation. If you can restrain your impulse just to admire the goodies on show, walk through the shop to the large restaurant behind. Elegant and full of rich Russian clients, as it always has been, there is a small lunch menu with excellent soups and salads... and, of course, desserts!!

“Delicious cakes, good atmosphere and location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 1, 2013 via mobile

We picked up a Black Forest cake and a lemon tart to-go one rainy day. The prices were higher than average--about fifty cent to one euro a piece extra, but we couldn't resist passing by the mouthwatering display empty-handed. There were both delicious, the cake clearly with a generous splash of brandy and the tart rich and fresh.

I went inside to meet up with a group of visiting friends the other day, and was pleasantly surprised by the great decor and atmosphere. Even during lunch time (12:00-12:30) the place was packed. From the table arrangement, it might be difficult with a group larger than five. Other than that, highly recommended for both picking up while in downtown and spending some relaxing, quality teatime.
