Vienne looked interesting with it's many Roman buildings so this was our first stop on the way back from the South. We chose the Ibis based on previous experience of these hotels as well as the price, location and secure parking. The hotel overlooked the Rhone and was on the edge of the old town. We were travelling with another couple but unfortunately the booking for the second room had not been received. However, the young woman on reception was very helpful and booked in the second room. The rooms were small but this is expected and the beds very comfortable. The shower room was a reasonable size but the bath towels were a bit flimsy. The soap dispensers were only a quarter full (I've noticed this in other Ibis's) and I had to squeeze them pretty hard to get the soap out - it's not a big deal but was irritating. Everything was very clean. Breakfast was a cold buffet with good selection and was more than adequate. There was free wi-fi and the midday checkout was very useful. One thing we thought odd was that one night we noticed the receptionist was also serving meals and drinks so was dashing back and forth from reception to the bar and dining area which meant that either people checking or, or diners had to wait. However, he appeared to remain cheerful despite seemingly under pressure to be in two places at once.
If in the area again we would definitely choose this hotel.
