3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 2, 2013

No air conditioning on one of the hottest days on record. Stopped for one night en route from Barcelona to Switzerland. Got a bit lost and the neighbourhood is quite dodgy looking, which explained the fenced parking lot. Had a single room with single bed. Bed was fine, but they only had a thick quilt on the bed. Definitely need some seasonal bedding! No screens on the window. Carpets were filthy. Breakfast was ok for 8euro. Had a shower hose, but nothing to hang it on, so it was a bit awkward.

Would not have felt comfortable as a solo female traveller, but was with a colleague, so was ok.

The room I stayed in was ok but needed updating. There was no fixing on the wall for the shower head and the bathroom needed a good scrub. The kitchenette was useful. Parking is secure in so much as there is a fence and a code operated gate but the area looked very run down. There is a large shopping centre nearby with a couple of restaurants. The reception staff were very helpful. Didn't have the breakfast but its not overly expensive at only 3 euros. Easy access from the motorway. Wouldn't stay here again.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 8, 2013

Our choice of accomodation in Valence was limited due to the high level of guests applying for rooms at this time so we selected Hotel Cerise on a "at least it looks ok " basis.
Located close to the centre of Valence, hotel cerise is a gated accomodation facility. Situated within a large shopping centre on the north east side of the N86 the clean hotel was not hat easy to locate. Our GPS became confused as the driveway to the gated opening was actually part of the shoppng car park.
Once inside we found the rooms were adequate with heating, and individual washing facilities.
The TV was local and thus did not include any English speaking channels.
The food for breakfast was typical French but there was sufficient quantities for all to even make a mid morning snack as well.

Room Tip: It is located on a national highway. If you are a light keeper, then ask for a rear room.

On arrival, the floor in the entrance hall was sticky - not a good welcome!

The first room we were offered was dirty, carpet filthy, kitchen bits missing and bedding dirty. Dirty marks up the walls. Smelt bad. Empty medicine dispenser and crushed biscuit in wardrobe! Smelt of smoke and window open - presumably to reduce smell of smoke.

Requested move to another room. This was only slightly better. Still dirty, smelly and lacking some of the kitchen basics.

Requested more pillows but this was denied as the room was "complete". Asked for clean pillowcases and these were provided but still damp and un-ironed. Towels did not appear to be replaced or if they were, they were still damp!!

Altogether an unpleasant experience and would not wish to stay there again.

Management failed to respond to complaints although they admitted they had knowledge of most of the problems.
