“Compact, pleasant chalet - brilliant hosts!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 29, 2011

The chalet was more compact with much smaller bedrooms than those found in neighbouring Tignes but there's definitely more night life in Val D'Isere! We had no problems during our stay - everything was clean and well maintained. The steam room, sauna and jacuzzi were all excellent!

Skiiing out in the morning was easy but the ski back was no good for inexperienced skiers - although regular buses run from the bottom of the hill.

For me, the hosts really made the holiday! Johnny and Graham were both fabulous at keeping us well fed and entertained!!!

The chalet itself was well located. Beds were reasonably comfortable. Good bathrooms &plenty of high pressure hot water! (Very slow) free wifi internet. Graham and Jonny made a great team & were excellent chalet hosts.

On the negative side:

1) the stairs to the basement where the steam room. showers and pool table are located are steep and slippery and has no hand rail to protect it. One of our group slipped and broke his shoulder on the way down. We raised the issue of dangerous stairs to the Ski Power UK office and asked that a hand rail be installed. They were very dismissive and refused. Nice chalet - but the Ski Power UK office customer service (both before and during the trip) left alot to be desired. The steps would not have passed UK H&S legislation.

2) The chalet is right next to the road and a bright street light. Rooms did not get dark at night. There is noise every night from drunk late night revellers coming back. Check the pools of vomit outside the Club Med hotel just up the road where people have had just a bit too much.

Chalet Danielle is well appointed and modern. Fine location for access to the main lifts. Two minutes down a gentle blue run to Solaise & Olympique Bellevarde. Quiet street, about 5-10 minutes walk to town centre, with free bus to nearby.
Slightly trickier return at end of day, via Epaule de Charvet or Santons runs - not ideal for beginners or early intermediates. Bus from lower down OK though.
Food and service friendly and very good throughout. Thanks to Graham (Chalet Host), John (Chef), Geoff (Resort Manager) and Hare (Ski Guide).
Facilities include very welcome outdoor hot tub (with view of olympic Face run) indoor sauna and steam room. There's also a well worn pool table. Boot room fine and secure equipment storage provided.
Only negatives are the unusual extra charges of £15 if equipment hire not booked and another £15 if ski pass not booked through Ski Power. The equipment provider used (Snowberry) was high quality but relatively expensive. Also, for self-drivers, parking was not offered, although the chalet seemed to have a large unused garage. Resort parking varied between about 50 and 80 euros per week elsewhere.

Excellent proximity to ski area with ski-in and ski-out, and close to town and nightlife. Very professional and friendly staff, good cooking and clean rooms. Excellent facilities including hot tub, sauna and steam room all individual to this chalet. A few problems with timely management of maintenence issues eg. some boot warmers broken all week. UK office staff (Ski Power) unhelpful and disorganised so as a traveller you need to be proactive in requesting information and checking details (including contact details in France).
