Deservedly Trip Advisor Best Hotel Award 2013.
We stayed for eleven days in June into July and found the experience relaxing and rewarding. It will spoil us when we go to other hotels, even those in Dubai, since we will be measuring them against the ‘Le Grillons’.
I endorse all that other reviewers have noted. For the May reviewer, who was critical of Fire Precautions, I can to report, as a professional, that all precautions are up to and above the standard required.
The safety at the pool was impressive. Although not under surveillance, when closed, it is protected by ornate iron balustrading and a locked gate which prevents children getting in. It is ideal for families since there is a sloping entrance to the pool which permits kiddies to paddle (under parental supervision) There is also a Jaccuzi/whirlpool, very warm and separate for those needing such fun.
A large greensward area outside allows games and space for children to play.
The food on Half Board provided is impressive, four courses, very stylish and filling. The service by the youthful staff was exceptional. We have never experienced anything like it – nor the prices of wine but hey, we were on holiday. After a few nights of ordering bottles we reverted to beer and just glasses of wine. Breakfast was Continental with eggs you boiled in a small machine which took some getting used to, lucky my wife was with me!.
Our bedroom was Room 7 and enormous. No tea/coffee makers or silly mini bar. Plain furniture to accommodate our needs, extensive hanging space for clothes, large bathroom and separate toilet, all immaculately maintained and decorated. A magnificent large flat screen TV with many Channels allowed us to comfortably use the room when the rain came.
The hotel is situated away from any Town or Commune and you really need a car if staying for a lengthy period. My recent knee operation did not allow that so we used the infrequent buses which stop outside the hotel and the water boat service from Port Angon, five minutes from hotel.
Lake Annecy is one of the most beautiful places we have ever been to and you need to visit the communes around its lakeside. Cycles can be hired locally and there is much to do and visit.
The Plage on the Lakeside opposite the hotel is clean and well maintained with a small snack bar and life guard for lake bathing from the pontoons and marked swimming area. I had a dip and the water was drinkable and superbly clean.
Mostly English/French visitors of mature years although some families at beginning of July.
Our eleven days was worth every Euro, the staff were superb, friendly and helpful and for all those considering hotels around Lake Annecy, this is the one if you are lucky enough to get in!
I do not know how they rate hotels in France but to me this was FIVE STAR
