“Very disappointing”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 12, 2014

We booked a room for 2 nights and also dinner for one night. We were especially looking forward to dinner as the proprietor is well known for her good food. Also most restaurants are closed at this time of year so we were pleased to have a reservation.

However, on arrival we were told by the husband that there would be no dinner as the wife was getting ready for their daughter's wedding! So why hadn't she told us this in advance?

The set up is lovely but we felt that they should not have taken our reservation. They were totally distracted and we did not receive the hospitality we expected.

We are sorry that your stay by us was not up to your expectations. You actually came one weekend a bit unusual for us: it was the wedding of one of our daughter on Saturday in Lyon. We closed the facility on Saturday night and thought that we will be able to ensure the previous 2 nights correctly, but unfortunately a serious health problem of another child, forced me to leave in an emergency on Thursday, leaving my husband alone. At this time, we did not consider it worthwhile to share these concerns with you.

Of course, the day before, we tried to reach you with the foreigner phone number you gave us, but have not been able to reach you unfortunately.
We are really sorry about that.
We hope you have been able to recover on time your son at the airport and had a great skiing week with your family then. We hope also that your return on Abu Dhabi went well.

This is a wonderful B&B in a beautiful location - fabulous views, great hosts, and a delicious dinner if you are there on the weekend. The room on the ground floor (basement) is rather small, but less expensive, and you have your own little yard with table and chairs. The rooms and beautifully renovated, as is the rest of the house.

We stayed for two nights at La Halte Saint-Germain B&B and were made so welcome by the wonderful husband and wife team hosts Bruno and Christele who both spoke very good English. Our double room (one of four rooms) was spotlessly clean, quiet and comfortable with a balcony overlooking beautiful Lake Annecy and the surrounding mountains. However the icing on the cake was the two fabulous 3 course meals prepared by Christele and served by Bruno in their dining room overlooking the lake-what a treat! Fine dining gourmet meals for 21 euros each for 3 courses really was excellent value in a relaxed atmosphere. Also a wide range of drinks available to purchase including cocktails.

Breakfast was also fabulous with home made bread, croissants, delicious home made jams, also cereal, yoghurt, orange juice, selection of teas or coffee. This was included in the room cost and served between 8.15am to 9.30am.

We walked down the steep footpath to Talloires which has a beautiful waterfront and caught the boat around the lake to Annecy old town. The restaurants in Talloires looked very expensive and I doubt that the food would have been any better than Christele's fabulous creations.

The attention to detail in this B&B was outstanding and we thoroughly recommend it for a relaxing and enjoyable stay with excellent food and company.

Room Tip: we stayed in La Tournette room on the first floor which had double doors opening on to a balcony wit...

My husband and I stayed at La Halte Saint-Germain for two wonderful nights in October 2012. We arrived late in the afternoon after a long day driving and were welcomed by our hosts Bruno and Christele. Our room was beautiful, clean and comfortable and with a view of the lake. Both nights we were lucky enough to be able to dine in the restaurant. What a treat! The meals prepared by Christele, using some of the local produce, were delicious and beautifully presented. Breakfast was excellent with freshly baked bread each morning. Both the accommodation and dinner were very reasonably priced. Bruno and Christele were wonderful, friendly hosts and were extremely helpful with travel tips and advice during our stay. We would love to visit again.... for longer next time!
