When I first arrived at the Hotel du Golf I was in awe at the colours and modern furnishings throughout the hotel and room. The location is a good 5 minute drive from other civilisation as it is located up a hill. It is also 50 minute journey from the aiport in Lyon. The staff were friendly and helpful.
The room itself was clean and quirkily designed with a deep pink colour theme. It came complete with air con, a TV and a safety deposit box, but no kettle with tea/coffee (which was disappointing). It was quiet enough but there still a sense that you were not the only person in the hotel.
The breakfast was well stocked and had a variety of hot and (mainly) cold options, as well as fruit juices, tea/coffee, etc. The restaurant food was exceptional, although somewhat highly priced. There were extremely well priced set menu options of differing price ranges, which I ate from on the two nights I stayed at the hotel. Both times the food did not disappoint and could not be compared to any food back in the UK (at least anywhere around the same price). Cocktails were also on offer at the bar, but were not to my sweeter rather than alcohol-overload taste buds.
The hotel also had a lovely pool, outside decking and bar as well as an outside restaurant seating area. Definitley a hotel to enjoy the warmer weather.
I was here on business and would stay here again given half the chance, but I would not stay here if holidaying in St Etienne because of the unlikelihood of me going to St Etienne on holiday (not because of the hotel in any way). The hotel is exceptional and I hope to go there again soon.
