Central location in the heart of village and a 100 m from the ski lifts, newly renovated, nice alpine decoration, warm and welcoming lobby, buffet breakfast, friendly staff who did everything to please us (except one breakfast waitress)... Great stay with our kids and friends!

Room Tip: The renovated rooms are nice but smaller than the new ones in the new wing.

there really isn't much to say about the room, the bathroom, the pool and so on; it is all adequate and as one would expect of a top hotel.

but the service - that is something else. EVERYONE from the managers of the hotel and the restaurants, receptionists, waiters, cleaners, porters all go the 'extra mile' (or few miles), even in assisting with other services in the town. the hotel has grown, yet it maintained all that was good in the cosy atmosphere that previously characterized it.

Apologies to those readers who are not familiar with the British Television series I have used for the title of my review.
Having stayed at this hotel’s predecessor, Le Manege a long time ago I was looking forward to visiting this upgraded, redecorated and re-named establishment. Unfortunately we encountered problems from the very first minute.
Having arrived at 6pm we were informed that “unfortunately” the previous occupier of our room had not yet vacated it! A different room was offered but was wholly unacceptable as it was split level with a tiny, claustrophobic bedroom in the roof. Eventually, we were given our booked room type at 7.30pm.
Attempting to place valuables in the room safe we were confronted by a scribbled notice on the instructions, written by a previous occupant saying “do not put anything in this safe, it will be stolen as happened to the room next door”. I then discovered that the telephones in the room were out of order so I went down to inform the front desk of the very bad PR from such a note. They seemed completely nonplussed and simply said they “will make a note of this”. I had to mention this again the next day before it was removed but the phones were not fixed for our entire stay.
On returning from dinner at 10.30pm we were surprised and disappointed to find that the room had not been attended to, the bed still had all covers and cushions on it and the towels had not been changed. Neither was this service performed the next evening. THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE A FIVE STAR HOTEL.
On attempting to place a breakfast order there was no form in the room to hang on the door and, again, due to no telephones I had to get dressed and go personally to reception only to be told they did not have any either but would somehow find one which took another 15 minutes. You would have thought this would be a regular check the chamber maids would perform but yes, the next evening the same problem.
The so called Gym would have been a disgrace even for the old version of the hotel, yet alone for a brand new modern version. Suffice it to say I have better and more varied equipment in my home gym!
The final point is the bathroom. We were in a so called Junior Suite and whilst the size of the sitting room and bedroom were adequate I have never been in a hotel with a smaller bathroom. As the interior of the hotel has recently been re-built this is a fundamental error especially since there IS more than enough room to make the bathroom a decent size. I will only say by way of illustration that one had to sit on the toilet at an angle…..

Dear Sir,

We regret that your stay in our hotel in Megève has not been successful.

We do apologize for not being able to allocate the Junior Suite you had booked on your arrival and regret that our upgrade to a Suite that we immediately provided, without extra charge, did not get your approval.

This incident was the start of all the points that you then disapproved that you found with an extreme care, sort of nit picking.

May you had expressed problems encountered while you were with us, we could have acted and solved them together. This way to proceed would have been more positive, as well as fair and professional.

Your complaints came after your departure and did not give us any chance to defend ourselves from some unfounded accusations. We formally contest your professional way of dealing with this situation. As a travel agent, you know that in order to help, we need to know about the problem and therefore, give us a chance to improve ourselves and please our guest.
As a professional travel agent, you certainly know how to reach the hotel manager while on property and you had many opportunities to do so as I am in the hotel from early morning until late evening every day. What surprised us the most is that, on your checkout day, you met once again my colleague and told her you had a good stay.

We disapprove the utterly unfair way you have chosen to openly tear down our hotel on issues that had once again never been mentioned to us directly.
