We went to Brasserie Le Sud for lunch. Even though the restaurant has had mixed reviews, we were optimistic and hoped that our meal was going to be one of the better experiences that some previous reviewers had enjoyed. Unfortunately, it was not our lucky day. The restaurant is lovely and the waitstaff were attentive with some of the younger staff seeming overly anxious to please. My lunch special of carpaccio and salad was good; however, how wrong can you go with carpaccio and green salad? My husband's lunch special of roast chicken looked decent on the plate but was terrible. He said it was overcooked and dry. He said Costco's roast chicken was much better. Considering this is a restaurant associated with Paul Bocuse and that a simple roast chicken is on many restaurant menus, including street market vendors, we were quite shocked that the restaurant deemed this particular day's roast chicken good enough to serve as a lunch special. In retrospect, we should've sent it back but my husband didn't want to create a fuss. The dining experience was one of the few disappointments we had during our two week trip to France.
