“Disappointing lunch”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 8, 2013

We went to Brasserie Le Sud for lunch. Even though the restaurant has had mixed reviews, we were optimistic and hoped that our meal was going to be one of the better experiences that some previous reviewers had enjoyed. Unfortunately, it was not our lucky day. The restaurant is lovely and the waitstaff were attentive with some of the younger staff seeming overly anxious to please. My lunch special of carpaccio and salad was good; however, how wrong can you go with carpaccio and green salad? My husband's lunch special of roast chicken looked decent on the plate but was terrible. He said it was overcooked and dry. He said Costco's roast chicken was much better. Considering this is a restaurant associated with Paul Bocuse and that a simple roast chicken is on many restaurant menus, including street market vendors, we were quite shocked that the restaurant deemed this particular day's roast chicken good enough to serve as a lunch special. In retrospect, we should've sent it back but my husband didn't want to create a fuss. The dining experience was one of the few disappointments we had during our two week trip to France.

“Brasserie with a special touch”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2013

We went to dinner with a group of 4 adults and 4 children. We had a table inside in a nice environment, close to the open kitchen. The service was excellent, attentive and very helpful. The food was good, nothing fancy as may be expected with Paul Bocuse as owner of the brasserie. But well prepared, quality ingredients and prices are ok. And the children had a very lovely menu with a way oversized dessert to close the dinner.

“Appalling service”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 3, 2013

We dined here for lunch. We were greeted nicely. All looked promising for a nice meal however the two waitresses and waiter near the kitchen window were a disgrace. First they gave us a English menu. Rude. Dont assume we cant speak or read French. Service was sloppy. They were plain rude. Food was nice and good value.

“Dissapointing”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2013

Expectations were high but apart from the very pleasant staff a dinner for a large group consisting of locals and international visitors was far less than expected. The food appearede to have bene prepared well in advance and reheated, the menu was uninspiring and much better meals are to be had in family run places all over France. Only the service and the company of the fellow guests saved the evening. Woiuld definitely not return.

“Perfect lunch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2013

Ideal lunch address on the terrace (ask to sit inside if you do not appreciate the heath of Lyon in Summer) with adapted mediterranean cuisine and finish with the strawberries on a Moroccan way (with pepper, mint and lemon confit).
