“Comme ci comme ca... Mixed vibes”
Classic modern decor makes a refreshing change from the usual dark Lyonnais bouchons. Good choice on menu and set menus good value for this kind of place in Lyon.
Head waiter/manager friendly and professional.
Would like to know more about the owner as he seems quite a big shot on the Lyon restaurant scene with around 5-6 restaurants in town. Might be nice to 'sell' the mystery chef a bit more to non-Lyonnais-ers.
Food was a bit hit and miss... Salmon carpaccio absolutely tasteless as was cod. Seafood in south of France is much better than in Lyon.
Missing also a bit more ambiance -
Music, candles etc... And the small caring details like herb butter on heated fresh bread rolls, some non French wines on the wine list. It's quite a stiff atmosphere.
In conclusion: good place by Lyon standards but wouldn't be able to compete with the likes of top notch restaurants in other cities outside France. Usual stiff and distant service common for more upmarket French restaurants where diners are kept at an arm's length. A smile, hint of interest in where people come from, volunteer info about the wines, chef etc like they do in other countries would be refreshing for a change!
