“Interesting hotel”

Radisson SAS Lyon

Jun 27, 2008

I stayed in the Radisson SAS with my partner, who was working.
The hotel is the tallest hotel in europe, and can be seen from almost anywhere in the city, and is also well known to everyone if you get lost! The reception staff are pleasant, and the porter staff are very helpful and friendly.
Our room was on the very top (39th) floor of the hotel, and the views were spectacular, especially at night. However, the rooms are a bit out dated and need re decorating, but are clean. Our room, as well as another of my partners collegues, was very hot, the air conditioning does nothing to cool the room down, making it very hard to get a comfortable nights sleep. When we complained to reception, they gave us a fan.
The hotel is in a good location, right above the Part deuix shopping center. There are tram and bus stops directly outside the hotel, which go straight into vieux lyon, which is beautiful.
I would recommend this hotel for a short stay, but if staying for longer than 4 days i would prefer to stay somewhere more comfortable.

“Good business hotel with excellent access to Gare de Part Dieu train”

The hotel was not my first choice but I must say I was pleasantly surprised. The front desk and concierge were very helpful and nice. The shopping center next door and access to the train station were excellent. It is a 15 minute walk to the center of town and Old Lyon, my only word of caution. However, it is perfectly safe to walk even late at night.

The hotel is just one block from Halles de Lyon, a gourmet delight. Foodies should definitely make this a regular stop. Be sure to sample gorgeous deserts at Delices des Sens often staffed by a delightful young woman who happily speaks English.

“Good for business, not ideal for tourists”

This hotel has about 10 floors at the top of the Credit Lyon building. You're in the center of the commercial portion of Lyon, so if you are here on business or traveling via train this is a great spot for you. However if you are looking to walk around old town Lyon, try a different spot.

We arrived around 8pm and at that time the parking lot was full. The staff had no recommendations on where to park.

The room was clean, but small and adequate. Surprisingly 40 floors up we could still hear traffic and sirens.

This hotel is ideal for a business setting, but we'd look for another hotel if traveling here for gastronomy or tourism.

“Tired but fine.”

I stayed at the Radisson SAS Lyon for one night on business. It is in the tallest building in Lyon. Bizarrely -check in is on the 32nd floor and the rooms go up from there.

It is need of updating. The rooms are tired. However, it is clean.

The location is fine - but not surrounded by dining options. We walked about 1/2 hour to the walkable part of Lyon and found a nice selection of dining options.

It is definately a business hotel. The blow dyers were old and not great, my room was really hot and I couldn't cool it down.

The breakfast is fine, service a tad lacking, but it was busy.

“No No No Not a Four star!!!!”

This is MOST definitely not a 4 star hotel. It is VERY hard to find, the area around it is seedy. The bedrooms could at best be described as tired. The Bistro which was supposed to be open for dinner each night from Sun to Thursday was not open either night we stayed (Mon and Tues) with no explanation for this!!!!! When booking we were asked if we preferred high or low floor...we requested high...and were given a room on the lowest bedroom floor. Yes the view was good but the noise from the bar and the piano went on too late and was clearly audible in the room we were in!!!
The breakfast was reasonable but would not compare with otheer 4 star hotels like Sofitels etc. The place is almost impossible to find and the hotel website is misleading. It gives no real details of how to find it and even says the bus from the airport will take you directly to the hotel....RUBBISH!!! It takes you to the Part Dieu train station but that is where the problems start being able to see the hotel but not how to get to it!!! Then when you do get there there is the awful two lift issues to get to the bedrooms!!!
Give it a miss!!!
