The 203 café is maybe one of the best "pseudo alternative" places in Lyon, when it comes to beer and burgers. Located in Rue de L'arbre Sec, near Terreaux, the 203 offers a nice terrace and 3 rooms - 1 dedicated to the restaurant, 1 smoker (one of the only bar that still has a smoker area) and a regular one. The service is quite fast, and one can taste good local beer there (try the Bourganelle). In general, the crowd is quite young and alternative - don't go there alone. If you are not in the mood for alcohol, try their hot chocolate, made with real chocolate / milk - a grandma recipe.
When it comes to food, it is worth noting the 203 has not lots of veggie options - which may be a problem. Their burgers however quite expensive are yummy - just picture French cuisine in an American classic. Overall, for a 'Brasserie' type of food, the price is quite expensive (13€ in average) but it worths it.
Overall, the 203 is a nice place for lunch and / or to chill with some friends. Maybe one of the coolest bar just near the Opera.
