It was the day of our 25th wedding anniversary and we desired a suitable restaurant to celebrate the event in Lyon ..... the gastronomic capital of France. Previous reveiws had mentioned this restaurant and being in the vacinity of the Part-Dieu railway station, near where we were accommodated was a bonus! The restaurant was a comfortable 15 minute walk from the station and we were at ease walking at night in a reasonable residential neighbourhood. Le Danton is a small establishment seating approximately 30 patrons and capably managed by 2 chefs and a waiter. The meal was absolutely wonderfull, cleanly presented and met our requirements for a special occassion. Our 2 entres, being a fish; egg, chicken and bacon presentation followed by 2 mains - chicken; veal, then had to be a prelude to desert (which was not part of the plan). Deserts were roasted banana ; chocolate cake. It was a fantastic meal with plenty of 'surprise us' factor (not being able to read the menu contributed to that). The price seemed very reasonable - probably worth more as the waiter was welcoming and the atmosphere was cosy. (The chefs even had time for a chat and wanted to know 'how the evening was'). We were lucky to book a table earlier that afternoon but by the end of the night there were plenty of patrons being turned away. It certainly paid to book. Thanks for a special and memorable evening.
