“Great location, comfortable stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 13, 2013

We stayed for three nights at Hotel Saint-Pierres de Terreaux. Extremely good value for only 70 euro p.n - clean spacious room, very comfortable bed, and hospitable hosts. One thing to mention for older/less mobile travellers that there are a LOT of stairs at this hotel, and no elevator - however this wasn't an issue for us.

I would recommend this hotel to travellers who are looking for a short stay in Lyon without all the bells and whistles of a higher star hotel (no fridge or amenities for preparing food at all) - so if you're looking for a place to stay for a longer period then this hotel probably isn't for you.

Location was great, right in the centre of town just near Bellecour where all the shops are - there are also two rental bicycle stations located just outside the hotel, so perfect if you plan on riding around Lyon.

Room Tip: If you have trouble with stairs, ask for a room on a lower floor

The hotel is located really close to the City Hall, helpfull if you are visiting Lyon on foot. There is a public parking too, underneath the Terreaux square.
The owner was there to welcome us - a strong lady who insisted to carry some luggage as there is no elevator in the building and the reception is on the first floor. The building itself is old, the entrance is shared with other flats, I guess and it is a little bit spooky, but the rooms of the hotel have been renewed in a modern designy style and are quite charming. The bathroom was clean and functionnal. Wifi code is provided upon request. The connection was good. Good quality for a 2 stars hotel. A good experience overall!

We'd previously stayed in another nice place Hotel Alexandra (metro Ampère), that was full this time so we booked at St Pierre des Terraux (worth noting that both hotels are old buildings which have been recently well renovated). What a great choice, ideally located near to the hotel de ville, place des Terraux and for public transport links its perfect. Also many restaurants and the main shopping area is just around the corner.

Our room was just opposite the reception desk but its completely soundproofed as it has a mini entrance hall/porch, so two doors to block out any sound, but its a quiet hotel anyway. The room was fairly small but practical, window looking out onto a narrow (almost pedestrian only) street. There is triple glazing so its very quiet.

The receptionist (who said he was from the Auvergne region) was very polite & friendly and made our stay in this fantastic city even better. Merci beaucoup!

I stayed here with several colleagues for 6 nights in August. The hotel owner was very welcoming and went out of her way to offer help, carrying bags up stairs, finding maps and umbrellas and even going out to buy fruit of our choice for breakfast. The hotel rooms are adequate - I was on the third floor which overlooked a side alley and was quiet. There is no lift as the building is listed but they aren't a problem, even in heels! It's lovely and central to metro, bus stations and restaurants.

We stayed at this small boutique-style budget hotel for 2 nights. (no A/C, fan only, tv) during the summer. Note: there are renos going on but we did not hear it and were not disturbed. Security code entry, make sure you can access (or review check-in time) before you arrive. Great value, without staying at a more expensive place. Easy wayfinding, 5 min. walk from the metro. Perfect for couples, families and business travellers (note did not check wifi)

The room was decorated in a tasteful, traditional décor, comfy bed, and clean. We stayed on the 3rd or 4th floor, reception on the 1st. Easy check-in/out, great reception staff. There is no lift, so those that require assistance, you’ll need to book a lower floor or stay elsewhere. Room was well laid out, slider bathroom door, good water pressure, tv, small sink. Would stay again. Great location and close to all sites/shopping and a pleasant walk to the bouchons (there is a highly rated resto just off the street).

my daughter and I (a Travel Agent) stayed here for two nights in July - although it has no lift the staff assisted with getting our suitcases up the small flight of stairs - ask for the room opposite the reception
Though small it was adequate for our stay - Beds very comfortable - No aircon - The Reception Staff Salem was extremely gracious and helpful and of course another plus is that this little quaint hotel in the Best location for Lyon is around the Corner from the Cafe de Federation which was also awesome
We had a fabulous time in Lyon and thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this quaint 2 star hotel
Excellent value for money in a great area - and the saving you make you can spend on a fabulous Lyonais food

Room Tip: Dont forget that it is a 2 star hotel and they dont promise anything that they cannot deliver but...

Great staff great location and nice room all this at a very affordable price! Our room was clean and big enough for the 2 of us. The owner, Anne, made everything to make our stay better! There are stairs to get to the rooms but it was not a problem for us. We will come back to this hotel next time we are in Lyon. Thanks for everything!!!!!!!
