We booked into this Hotel after a River Cruise on the Rhone and Soane for the main reason that it is close to the Rhone Express to Lyon airport. Our flight out was scheduled for early in the morning and this was really convenient as the Terminus is a stones throw from the Hotel. A fast and reasonable way of getting to the airpot, unless there are more than 3 traveling - then it's better to get a taxi.
La Part Dieu Station is also just around the corner and is a transportation hub for Lyon and as such there is a ton of shopping nearby. Mind you, this is not the old City of Lyon, and therefore one has to use public transit to get there, but it is quick and easy.
The hotel was everything we wanted for a two day stay to explore Lyon, however avoid this City on a Sunday if you can. It's as dead as a doornail and although Mondays in August are a bit better, it's not great. Many of the stores and restaurants are closed, although the Museums and Art Galleries are by in large open. The old City,on the Soane side is the only bit of life in this City and there is a great street market along the banks.
Rooms are generous and clean and we loved the fact that there is a separate toilet rather than it being in the bathroom. Internet is free and good service. There is a small restaurant which is great for breakfast, but in general all hotel breakfasts in France are overpriced unless you just want a Coffee and Croissant, but then you can get it at the Starbucks in the station for half the price. Vive le France! Globilization sucks! How different it was traveling to Europe in the 50's and 60's. One had a true sense of the atmosphere and culture then.
