“Whisper quiet rooms”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2012

We had a twin room opposite the lift and overlooking the busy train station and never heard a thing! The rooms are very large and spacious with all mod cons. Especially good was the separate toilet with handbasin and you could have a party in the walk in shower it was so big! You have a rainfall shower head and a seperate hand held shower. The room has a reasonable sized fridge that came in very handy for the fresh milk, beer and wine! We stayed there for 8 nights and made ourselves at home by buying mugs as they only supply paper cups but you do get a big kettle. The large flat screen TV was a bonus but as there were only 3 English speaking news channels we took advantage of connecting my laptop to the screen by HDMI cable. The aircon was quiet enough to leave on all night and was very effective at keeping the room cool.

The location of the hotel was very good - it was beside the train station for connection to other towns and the Alps but also had good local links to other parts of the city by bus, tram or underground. We came in from the airport on the RhoneExpress and the hotel was just a walk across the road. We also did a lot of walking and once you got your bearings it was very easy to get around and we felt safe at all times. Never really thought about Lyon as a holiday destination before but we managed to do lots and really enjoyed ourselves. Our highlights were visiting the Old Town and discovering the traboules, a trip down the river, the park Tete D'Or, a coach tour round Beaujolais country and a trip to Vienne, only 20 mins by train.

Can't say enough about how great this hotel is. My husband and I were visiting French relatives and booked this Mercure mostly because of Tripadvisor reviews. After a day of extensive walking, it was a total pleasure to return to a large, state of the art hotel room with a great HD flatscreen. We were taking the train back to the Cote D'azur the next day and the location was ideal for train travel. The neighborhood itself completely lacks charm, but if you want to be close to the station, a big shopping mall, or you are looking for a great weekend rate when business travelers have left town I highly recommend this hotel. Staff was great and accommodated our late checkout request. Restaurant was okay, and convenient. Steps from the Part Dieu train station. Loved this hotel after a long, tiring day. Will definitely book at other Mrrcures as a result.

This is a good hotel to spend a weekend in Lyon. Rhonexpress tram stops right outside the hotel door and takes you to St.Exupery airport every 15 minutes.... and Metro station is a minute away. the hotel is new construction with a modern and comfortable feel. Rooms are spacious.. comparable to US rooms. Breakfast is good.

This hotel is very new and in an excellent location for travel with the airport shuttle, railway station and various tram lines all within yards. It also has a carpark diretly below with a subsidised rate for customers.
The rooms are spacious and very comfortable. The quadruple glazing eliminates all noise from the station.
Check-in was efficient and pleasant.
Breakfast the first day was very good however on day 2 at 9am the buffet was fairly decimated with no croissants, fruit yoghurt and very sad scrambled eggs. There seemed to be no attempt to replenish it

Very comfortable stay right next to Lyon Part-Dieu (TGV) station in a new building, very large sized room (for Europe). No train noise thanks to some serious double glazing. Good shower and helpful staff. Didn't try breakfast, but it looked a good spread. Air con kept the room a little warm and couldn't work out how to cut temperature. A little pricey perhaps, but Lyon has become quite an expensive city for hotels over the years.

We had a very pleasant stay, after travelling Sydney to Paris & taking train to Lyon. Staying near the station takes the stress out of travel. The hotel was very comfortable & clean would definitely stay here again.

This place is perfect especially if you arrive in Lyon by train. You step out of one end of the station, turn right, walk for several seconds and you are there. It's location means it is slightly out of town, but a good bus and metro service will get you there easily, and the location is very quiet at night. There is also a massive shopping centre behind it with a big supermarket. We were upgraded to a very spacious, clean and stylish room with big windows overlooking the street below. The room smelled a bit of cigarettes, but we kept the windows open for a while and it became less of a problem. it was extremely hot in Lyon when we were there, temperature in the high 30s, and at night the air conditioning wasn't as cold as it could have been. However the service was warm and charming throughout and we were very comfortable.

Room Tip: Ask if they have non smoking rooms.
