“Fantastic place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 28, 2014

I stayed here for 2 weeks for a business trip and was really impressed throughout my stay. The staff are extremely courteous and helpful, and speak perfect English. The hotel is beautiful inside and out, and the rooms are as well. The whole place has a classic atmosphere but is still modern.

My one ask would be that they have a gym / fitness center, but this seems to be typical of French hotels so that might be asking too much!

A wonderful, elegant (but well renovated) 19 century city centre hotel.
We stopped here on our way south.
Beautiful rooms.
Pleasant staff – good recommendations of where to visit in our one day in town and where to eat.
I have no complaints.
Cannot comment on breakfast, as with most French hotels it’s too much when you can grab a coffee and pastry in local café for 1/10 of the price.
No parking is a bit of a problem, so you have to use the public underground car park – my only issue.
Drinks in the bar rather pricey.

My second stay at this hotel in the last 8 months
Room was a little small for the price paid
Linen was excellent and all staff were top quality and very helpful
Breakfast was very good and the specially made omelette was very good
Lighting in bedrooms needs to be better

Perfect central location! Perfect that it had a carousel right outside and it helped since we were traveling with children. Lovely, friendly reception staff. Jules or Julien upon seeing that we were a family of four gave us a free upgrade. We had originally booked a regular room, without thinking too much about it, instead we were given a suite, with a fold out bed. Thank you! Thank you! Our suite overlooked the square and a wonderful wrap around balcony. Loved the old building, loved the old majestic elevator, loved how they take pride in the history of their building (info in a small booklet was provided.) Also on our book shelves in the room interesting books were available for perusing.
Some of the best breakfast buffets I have seen in a long long time, with fresh mangos, fresh berries, fresh cream and everything to boot. The only tiny glitch I can think of, they do not have a restaurant, the breakfast room is closed at night. Kids did not want to go out, but we could not go down and eat within the hotel, so we ordered room service. The room service food is good -they collaborate with the brasserie next door apparently- but I am not a fan of eating in the room or being forced to it.. That aside, a hit on every level. The bar downstairs is pretty nice and happening. The toiletries from their spa are special as well.

Stayed in a junior suite at the Hotel Carlton and could have done with a few more nights. This very centrally located hotel has a very nice vibe to it. Calling it a boutique hotel is a bit of a stretch but the design is contemporary, clean and well maintained - someone really liked red. As other reviewers have mentioned the elevator is fun and even tempted my travelling companion who hates elevators but was happy to ride up and down in this classic old school lift. As it is on a square there is no traffic noise but there is a taxi rank just outside. The staff were really personable, professional and kind. Enjoy!

Room Tip: Higher floors offer better views on the Place Republique

A Very comfortable hotel to stay in Lyon. Great Location, very nice rooms, very well decorated and very functional despite being a little bit small. Staff is very nice and very helpful. The bar is also very cosy and intimate! Next time I go to Lyon I will definitely go back there!

The hotel is very well located and gives one the feeling of a very nice boutique hotel. The staff were very friendly and eager to help. The rooms have been nicely re-decorated and give a very homely feeling. Definitely a place to come back to in Lyon.
